Arcane Odyssey: What is the history of your original character? What is he/she about?

What made you think of one of your main original characters?

Whats the timeline and certain outfit changes you’ve made during his or her years? What lore changes did you make?

What I mean by awaken is like “truly” confirm it and don’t see in making any changes to the character in a while.

One of them would be my OC Veronica Gates, Seafarer.

The person was thought of before world of magic I believe for me and the character itself takes place during the fourth sea. (During seven seas before its destruction) as a pirate captain with a crew. (2019)

(The first idea was a full mage with a short-sleeved jacket and long pants).

Then when World of Magic came out, I decided to expand and make the captain’s drip better and think of other titles as the title was really just based on the magic flare.
During world of magic all I did was give her a skirt 'n stuff, the drip honestly de-graded but the drip in WoM was bland. I upgraded it during WoM by moving the skirt and re-placing it with a red large cape and straw-hat (2020 - 2022)

Then I made an upgrade for veronica gates during Arcane Reborn, giving her the red merchants jacket and the black pants. Along with an elite cape. Still a mage however with fire magic. With the new idea of second magics I expanded the lore and gave her aether magic. (2021 - 2022)

Then Arcane Odyssey came out
2023+
I expanded upon the lore and made changes to it and decided to like give her another “title” for fun. Being ailurophile (Cat lover). And giving the character its own set of how she fights. Its mostly speed and power, low defense however.
And no longer is a mage and expanded it by making her a conjurer which mainly holds sanguine and a spear (Not in AO as those weapons garbage)

Also more drip expanding, giving her the seafarer coat, hunting boots, straw-hat, two sets of capes (Shrouded and normal, and straw-hat.
and yeah I got other characters but this one is the more so notable ones

What about yours?

  1. some random explorer, doesnt have any crazy backstory. Like doing things that put her in danger like scaling Mount Othrys or went diving in secret caves or diving spots without using potions, or other things that she deems “interesting”. somewhat of a completionist and collector, has a vault somewhere in the pelion rift thats full of stuffs she has collected over the years, from literal trashes to valueable treasure
probably the most athletic out of my 3 files, i intents on changing her into a warlock in the future. She uses wind magic and, in the future, boxing and gravity magic
usually wear iron armour and a non-functional diving helmet, takes the armour off when go diving or climbing, the helmet stay on, tho, period. She has short, wavy blue hair and white eyes. Her eye sight are terrible apparently, and she usually relies on sensing instead
i’ve always been a little bit too obsessed with wind-related ability, so when wind magic was first added in 3rd open test(?) i made her. Her name is Melissa Booth, which was, obviously, chosen at random

  2. a psychopath with a undying love for destruction of all things, so awfully reckless with her magics that she has to take protection agaisnt them
( poison gas mask and thick jacket, doesnt have anything against magma so she has some burn scars here and there. Apprently, the feeling of being burnt excites her )
Uses magma, ice and poison magic. She also use old dual swords, but only when she feels like her opponent is worthy enough
Apparently the daughter of some important figure in the underworld, but that doesnt matter, not any longer. Wont murder anyone on sight, unless they attack her first. If the battle was too boring for her she would just spare them, tho
i made her cause i miss the old day in WoM where i ran around and destroy places and murder people out of boredom. Her name is Areta Demicus ( or smt like that ), it just a word play on Area Denier lol

  3. Knight file, pretty much just a self-insert appearance-wise. Has some plan for them to be an ex somewhat high ranking member of the ravenna army but defected after finding out its secret and is currently on the run, not really flesh out tho
roughly, they used to be close friend and partner of a powerful fire conjurer called “The Red Blade of Ravenna” ( based on an NPC in arknights ), they found out about its secret and was hunted down, red died and channel her remaining power into her blade, which turn into an exalted weapon ( the type that naturally produce magic ), but the process also severely damage it, so it can only be used for a limited number of time
met the MC at sailor’s lodge and heard them planning to infiltrate Fort Talos, and agreed to help them. At the end of the Bronze Sea Arc, they killed Calvus with the exalted fire blade, which also broke it. Afterwards they part way with the gang and go live the rest of the life in peace
oh right, appearance. medium length pink hair, red eyes ( has some plan about them being a Winterveil survior that hide their eyes color with yellow contacts, unsure tho ), brown jacket and shoes, white undershirt and black pants and gloves

In World of Magic, my character was simply a powerful magma mage who directly opposed the magic council and became a wanted criminal as a result. As time went on they began taking more drastic measures to antagonize magius, such as going on murderous rages through cities or by storming and toppling the Silent Tower.

As for my Arcane Odyssey character, his story basically follows the lore but I gave them a few personal traits and intrinsic motivations. The most prominent of which is his fear of death. While in their short coma on Dawn Island at the beginning of the story, he had terrible visions and dreams that he can’t fully remember but associates with death. For this reason, he embraces life and lives it to his fullest; exploring all the islands he can and picking up all the skills he can, he’s become a talented explorer, chef, alchemist, diver and jewel crafter. Unfortunately for him though, one thing he’s learned about himself is that the times when his power grows the most is when he’s near death. He’s experienced it many times; while fighting powerful magic users like Elius and Calvus or physical beasts like Argos, and even against the powerful pirate captains or wanted criminals that sail across the seas. The pressure of being in a deadly situation causes him to push past his limits and come out on top. I want him to eventually get over his fear of death and accept it as a natural part of life, but currently I’m unsure when, how, or even if that will ever happen.

My first file ever on WOM was a old man with a white thick beard, messy hair, and a scar on his eye. His name was Bertram Rust, born in Bell Village as a native Alalean. Grew up poor and shit, found out he was a wielder of Earth Magic. Was weak at first and couldnt get a hold of his magic (earth was ass), but later became a hero after some intense trial and error. Lost that account a while ago, so I made a new file which used Gold Magic and the same first name. He mutated his Earth Magic… I guess.

Made a google document for this because it’s way too long for the forums. Read it, if you will.

The second one’s great! I like how you’re planning to make him an arc of sorts

they’re obsessed with space and want to learn pressure and gravity magic to learn more about how it works, i guess they’re kind of a scientist at heart

Eric Fallenfire was Eric Gold in World of Magic, he was a noble of I am not going to pronounce the culture. I made his drip with a brown jacket, blue pants and orange headband and cape. Later replaced the pants with Exiled leggings. But then me and Tobi became friends and Eric was featured in a comic of his and I decided to update him.

In AO I changed him to Eric Fallenfire and made him a reincarnation of the god Hephaestus, so he is pretty powerful and magic and good at black smithing. He also makes fire music and I gave him the title of “The First Flame.” Upgraded his drip with large jacket, tropical shirt and glasses. Also royal crown cause he was a prince before.

1- Magna Burns, inspired by Trigno he is 100% my favourite slot, not as old as my WoM file Angel Salore (that was erased for picking the wrong magic and class) but truly one of my best, he is basically a prodigy in fire magic with a really sad backstory that he cant give less f*cks, he just wants to beat whoever is annoying him, he is also very histerical and likes to see his enemies melting into magma

2- Sol Lochester, inspired by Rupin when i saw him in LSS Arcane Adventures, she is Rupin’s lost sister, really old fire mage that was trained by pirates to be a killing machine, right now though she just wants to fish and protect those who cant defend themselves, wouldnt think twice before incinerating someone though

My main file Kristen Water was originally a full agility merchant during WOM, running from the grasslands back to Iron port to find exotic wares. They even started their own guild sometime along the way. Though no one wanted to join…

During AO, the first real weapon I liked was the musket, and thus Kristen Waters became a musketeer. (Complete with a whole tragic back story!) I also spent the first half of my play though trying to buy up all the bullets I could, running between all the shop owners of the islands. So I guess that merchant part of Kristen never quite changed.

Corrina has a long past, oh boy. She used to use magma in WoM, to preface.

Some of her first endeavors in WoM had her in white clothing. She wore a white canvas hat and a white king sleeved shirt with white gilded wings on her back. As well as small shorts of any color and black glasses. She was also in a clan named stormwind, but one of the guys was extremely annoying so I eventually left.

Next, her look took a complete turn. She now used dark red hairs and a red blindfold on her face, as well as red clothing exactly like earlier, and the shirt was a hoodie now.

Later, she changed again. Now with a yellow fedora, yellow shirt, and black glasses and shorts. Her hair was exactly the same as phase 1.

I changed her back to look one in early AO, just no wings.

In v1.11, she looked like this:

And now, well.

The development of my OC over the years

My main OC, Ace Grey originally started as a person called the 64th Ultimate Elemental (a being chosen to master all elements that appears once per universe) and could shift their power between 10 elements (earth, water, fire, air, energy, spirit, mystic, magic, light and dark) and multiple sub-elements at will. (~2014-2015, note: I was young)

I then reduced the element count down to four (earth, water, fire, air) and gave him friends attuned to the one element each, based on my irl friends at the time. (~2016)

I left it at that for years until I got into WoM, calling him Ace Grey after my first file and making him a master of the versatile polychromatism magic (think of the mystery gel if it became a magic) and illusive arcane (neutral) magic. A mage of duality between all and nothing. I gave him a large, black and hooded cloak with white, glowing armour underneath and a weapon that could shift between multiple different weapon classes. I also made him part of an organisation called The Peacekeepers (my wom guild) with new friends, an ice mage, a crimson fire witch, an equinox swordsman and a crystal mage, and connections to dragons, particularly one called Eso. This was also the point I gave him magic circle spells and changed my OC’s world to have the five elements of earth, water, fire, wind and energy (which included light, shadow and lightning). (early 2020)

At some point, during the TGR waiting period (late 2020-2022), I replaced the glowing white armour with simple, black mage robes, representing the standard uniform of The Peacekeepers (coincidentally, Ace Grey’s outfit looked almost exactly like AO’s samurai robes and pants with a hood). I gave him a split personality during this time, one that preferred versatility and long-range using weapons and polychromatism and another that preferred simplicity and short-range using arcane and fighting styles, designing him like a savant. I also ‘implemented’ him into the AO universe in his post-story after he and his friends fight an outsider (a god) and come to a negotiation with them to stop attacking their world. Ace’s part of the negotiation was that they were to return to their own universe by jumping through others that had some concept of magic, as a last entertainment for the outsider. One of which was the AO War Seas, where they become separated and lost across the seas. This was the final point where I felt my OC was complete.

I connected this OC to my first three files in AO (2023). I made the first a moonlight conjurer, representing his versatile side, the second a shadow warlock, representing his simplistic side, and the third a light-shadow savant, combining the two as my true OC. This coming potions update made this idea even better as Vetex is adding mystery potions and gel, which have an effect almost exactly like polychromatism magic.
I also worked on an alternate idea (for the AO Ideas Trello topic) recently where The Peacekeepers were an organisation in the War Seas, focusing on peacekeeping in one sea and the Dark Seas exploration overall. I plan to finish it later.

Wednesday Ambrosia is a “lunarian”. Essentially, Lunarians are a group of people that landed on the moon during Durza and Theos’ first fight. The magic irradiation caused them to be able to manipulate “energy” such as chaos, magical energy, and just plain energy and convert it into essentials like nutrients and oxygen. Since many powerful curses land on the moon, many of their weaponry usually can contain various fractions and types of curses in them. There are approximately 200~ lunarians currently on the moon and Wednesday is one of the weakest among them. During the “Wrath of the Gods” event, Wednesday was basically “magnetized” by the magic energy (drawn to it) and fell from the moon, down to earth, and would end up landing in the war seas (random wilderness island). He has a sword that has a fraction of the Promethean flame curse making it on par with some of the strongest legendary weapons, however, after falling down to earth, Wenedsay gained mild brain damage and amnesia, basically causing him to forget about the moon (until much later), and how to use the true potential of his blade. His body remembers how to use his innate magic and fighting style, making him a str/wep/magic savant. He obtained his name “the moon rabbit” later in his storyline after he regains his memories and gets his primary motivation

This again?

Alright might as well put some actual percivale lore down

Percivale, The willbreaker

Percivale Barion is a man that was born in a rather fairly sized town with a special genetic trait.
He would always do whatever his mind first thought of.

If he had a sudden thought of going out to fish, he’d go out to fish. If he had a sudden thought of lumberwork, he’d go out and do lumberwork.

This got him into some trouble when he was growing up. As he’d sometimes say or do stuff that would be seen as out of character.
Regardless however, he kept his wits high and made sure whoever he met was as happy to see him as he was to see them.

On one fateful day however…
Percivale was treading through the forest, gathering flowers and fruits, until he suddenly came across a man lying down on a log. The old man had been laying there for days now, starved, dehydrated, and deprived of sleep.

Percivale offered to help the old man in need but the old man refused. Instead, he ordered and even demanded percivale to do one thing.

Something that would change his life forever.

He was ordered to kill the old man.

And kill him he did. No hesitation, no fear, no apologizing. Percivale didn’t even say a word.
Instead, he smiled. He smiled, and smiled, and smiled, until his cheeks reached up to his eyes.

But then something new would come to percivales mind. Something worse.

He’d get an urge to eat the man.

But he got frustrated.

No matter how hard he bit, his teeth would simply be too weak to rip through the man’s flesh.

This would be the first time he unlocks fire magic

His mind would begin to awaken, a power strong enough to level entire kingdoms. A journey to become a being that stands atop of the world. His urges would go off the charts, and with it his sanity shall go as well.

He cooks the man and eats him down to the bone, cleaning himself after the mess.

After some time, he’d eventually come across the man who had been the reason for the old man’s injury. It had been a small group of bandits that would raid the town occasionally.

Normally, a hero would be filled with rage or disgust over this, and apprehend them normally.

Percivale was neither mad or disgusted. He had no sense of negativity within him at all.

He was just so happy, so hungry, so e x c i t e d . . .

They attempted to take percivale down, but it was no use. Everything they did, percivale did just as well. Until they eventually tried to run.

But it wouldn’t last long, or end well. Percivale would eventually catch up to all 3. And with one of their spears in hand…

He left the area completely stuffed hours later.

When he returned to his town, he would be seen by crowds of people with his hands, clothes, and hair all reddened, as well as the heads of all 3 bandits he had slain.

When he showed the people his triumph, they rejected him. Called him a “monster” and tried to get him apprehended.

Several arguments and fights broke out over this event as the weeks went by.

As percivale was locked up, it’s said that around this time that the war seas would experience one of the worst heatwaves it’s ever faced.

A light would appear
A light would appear
A light would appear

The scorching sun would fill percivales head so much, that “A light would appear” is all that he could say.

On a fateful day, guards of the grand navy were tasked with checking percivales cell.

Percivale was dead.

He had been eating himself and he had eventually succumbed to blood loss.

With this information, he was promptly thrown into sea. Left to be fed to the fishes.

However, when approached by a nearby shark, percivale kills it and swims to shore, plucking out all of the sharks teeth while he swam.

He would wash up at an island named limestone keep.

He woke up to an uncooked meal, and a brand new pair of pearly whites.

At this point in time. The curious, foolhardy, and silly woodchuck from then, has now become a cannibalistic, blood ridden, unhinged, deranged, diabolical psychopath that focuses his entire existence around extermination and consumption.

Some time after this, he’d boil some stray pirates to their deaths for his signature weapons, would learn to charge his magic through his fists to mimick thermo fists, and after meeting up with a black haired emo and red haired girl that he cant stop drawing to save his life, he’d eventually get a desire to throw people into active volcanos.

And that’s how he got magma magic.

Now I just want you all to remember that percivale barion was supposed to be a French generic Shonen protag with a crush on a white haired girl that used metal.

Oh yeah btw.

Bleoberis is no longer a world destroying sociopath. Hes now the protag that stupidly goes along with the big bad villains plan not knowing of the consequences.

Eldridge is no longer the edgiest character I’ve ever made. 98% of proxy series villains were far more edgy anyway

He’s now a vigilante hero who wants to end both corruption and evil. Even if it means getting blood on his hands.

Wait are we talking AO file lore or just ocs in general.

I’ll just do Akos to make it short:
Akos Frost was the Prince of a county called the Impexis Regnum, and soon after his 17th birthday was fused with the shard of Randomness, Chaotic Function against his will, forcing himself to hide his own emotions to keep the god at bay. He travelled to the Rifts to find an answer for his predicament, to no avail. Then afterwards, he begins to locate Divinities and the mysterious Icarus Fallenfire for these answers, but during a duel with this aforementioned murderer, Icarus broke his mind, letting Randomness take full control of his body and offsetting the balance of the universe just enough for chaos to reign supreme, whist his friends hunted for the God Weapon, with Dulzura Winters using it to slay Randomness, finally freeing Akos, letting him die peacefully.
However, in a very distant and quite unrelated parallel universe, a very different Akos Frost was born, destined to have an Arcane Odyssey.

both ig

My character had a complete overhaul though you could say I just changed it instead, my first file name during WoM days was Aarav Water (If you recognize this I’m so sorry, if ykyk) a supposed Wind-Ice-Metal mage stranded on Magius. He is a captain of the reformed A.G after a failed mission and got lost on the way there, long story short he strived for glory and died a lame death (died to a curse user on sea battle)

Now in AO my first file is an supposed Earth-Light-Crystal mage named Jonathan Moses born in a faraway sea cluster “Avian’s Sea” but was raided by powerful pirates, he escaped alone abandoning his parents. Jonathan is a coward at heart but wants to seek redemption through the service of the Navy, swearing loyalty but also to not be blinded by it’s justice.

Purpose of this character is that he’s one of the few people that know of “true religion” he has a book called “Almighty Trinity” and wishes to preach it’s teachings far to the sea and land, a holy messenger if you will. He has a bad habit of not knowing when to run away because he swore to himself he won’t be a coward anymore and also a bad habit of forcing himself to do “manly things” even if it hurts him.

Their designs are all A.G/G.N including my WoM file, though Jonathan’s original color scheme was supposed to be white and orange representing virtue and hope.

EDIT: Forgot to mention and I think it’s necessary, Jonathan’s first mind is Earth because he is unable to change or rather move forward.

most of my characters havent really gotten a fleshed out story yet so ima just throw in one for now
Aaron Booth / Spartacus Bronze a lightning-wind mage and the former lieutenant / adopted son of General Argos.

Essentially Aaron was running away from his parents who were powerful pirates and managed to hop aboard one ship that happened to be deserting his parents. Eventually that ship dropped him off Ravenna where he was adopted by Argos who renamed him Spartacus after his brother who had recently died. He was raised with Argos other adopted son Winter who became his best friend. After he grew up he joined the bronze legion, rose the ranks due to his connection to Argos and his skill at lightning magic, and then deserted after finding out various dirty secrets on the Ravenna Realm. He, Winter, and a small group of deserters would sail the sea gaining strength so they could free Ravenna from the caesar family rule.

Reindhart Tarven

An unpopular bounty hunter with generally bad luck.

He joined the business not because, unlike other hunters, he wanted money or fame, but because he was looking for someone. Specifically, his daughter, Hilda Tarven. He was born in Ravenna and had a normal childhood with an unusual education, which led to him almost joining a secret organization. In other words, he had some pretty horrible luck.

He dislikes taking pictures not because of his occupation as a bounty hunter but because he doesn’t like traces of him laying around.

If I were you give a general rundown of Reindhart Tarvens history, it would probably go something like this…

Born in Ravenna, Reindhart had a normal childhood up until the age of 9. His parents, for undisclosed reasons, sent him to an unusual orphanage where he had an unusual education.

Instead of teaching the children about math or science, the kids were prepared to join an organization known as the Order of the Aesir. They were taught how to kill, how to utilize their talents, how to eavesdrop, how to climb a large wall with no footing, and how to find almost anyone.

Reindhart almost joined the organization until he realized exactly why they were being trained. At first, he thought it was for military purposes which would explain a lot of what was going on, but in reality it was to prepare them for a special experiment.

Reindhart didn’t like the idea of being experimented on, so after 5 years he left, and met a charming woman named Pon Bedil. After staying with her for a while, they had a child, and Pon left Reindhart to this child.

With no time for heartbreak, Reindhart tried his best to raise his daughter who he named Hilda, but one day when she was out playing, an Order agent kidnapped her and sent her to the same facility as Reindhart was sent to, but he didn’t find this out until later.

10 years later, Reindhart finds his daughters bounty paper, and goes into the business to find her. Along the way, he hunts people that he feels should be put behind bars, while occasionally allying with bounties he feels are simply misunderstood.

He has yet to find another trace of his daughter.

Erwin Atrel

Erwin too, never wanted to be a bounty hunter. In fact, he wanted to be a writer! A popular one, at that.

But of course, things never always go our way, do they?

A bounty hunter with flexible morality, a terrifying title, and a dreadful outlook on life.

Born into a noble family in Frostmill, Erwin grew up with a silver spoon. His parents were often out travelling, enjoying the novelties of nobelship, leaving him, his sister, and a nanny at home to their own freedom.

He took an interest in writing after being introduced to a book created by a great writer which was about a boy who was asking too many questions.

He had a decent talent, and had small success in his hometown, but not for long. Not only because people eventually stopped buying his books, but because Frostmill was on fire.

For reasons I cannot disclose, a group assassinated Erwins father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, uncle, aunt, sister, and nanny whilst also burning down his hometown. The fire was put out eventually, but the damage had been done, emotionally and literally, as the Atrel mansion would not be rebuilt. This also awakened his power to control wind.

The incident left a mark on Erwin. His literature took a nosedive, from a bright and comedic tone to a much more dreary storyline, a word which here means “depressing, dreadful, disappointing, and filled with death.”

The few people that bought his books were either dead, or stopped reading them after they became pretty much an equivalent to living on Winterveil during Nero’s reign.

He’s now an employee in the Naval Bank, currently at the Admiral rank. It’s a small clan, so I guess it’s not a huge accomplishment.
He tends not to take interest in fighting people without bounties, but he seems to cheer up a bit when he’s training with friends.

Almost every ounce of fame Erwin has garnered is from his bounty hunting skill(this is also true ingame, I have 68,000 fame on Erwin and every bit of that fame is from player kills), which gave him the title “The Killing Wind”, because his enemies always feel a cold gust of wind when they are about to die. Some may say the title is somewhat misleading, seeing as how some of hs targets survive… However, they never forget the cold sensation against their backs, and instead wish they had just died.

These are the two main files I use the most at the moment. I’ll make a backstory on my current Shadow Savant file later on.
