Background
Arcane Odyssey, at its heart, is a musical game. While music isn’t as important to it as Undertale or Deltarune, it’s still a greatly appreciated, thematic, and even impactful addition. We even have motifs, somehow, with “Ravenna” (Calvus IV and Ravenna Wilderness), “Dark Sea” (Brought to Insanity, The Dark Sea, and the unfinished siren battle song), and “Arcane Odyssey” (A Concerning Plot, Call to Adventure, The Dark Sea) being the repeated ones.
So tell me why half the situations you’re in in the modern game, NOTHING plays??
Proposal
Generic battle, and even exploration music should be global.
I have specific cases where I think that songs would fit, so I’m at least going to give that input. I don’t know how song rights work, but I assume Vetex dredged all non-original songs from the royalty-free depths himself.
Commander Hathor/ battling players at Sameria: “Not Fated to Die!” by Tobi
Cold Wilderness, Ice Mines: “Frostbitten Breath” by Extro (yes this fan OST for Frostmill was made 5 years ago)
The Eastern Peninsula: Clan/guild island with Tier 1-4 walls and/or less than maximum merchants
Summer Hold: Clan/guild island with Tier 5-9 walls and maximum merchants (requirements could expand with the building system)
Mixes
Onto the main feature of the suggestion.
While at large and/or frequently visited islands (you could take statistics, polls, or use your own judgement), multiple songs can play on shuffle.
For example, Sameria (the poor thing only has 3 osts) could play the old Saveran theme instead of its regular one at random. Palo Town and other tropical towns could play Owl Theory Music’s Kordana (give it a listen trust) at random. Arena islands could play Munera’s theme or the Ruins of Charon theme. These are just a few, and songs could be in common between multiple islands. It’s not like this is song nuzlocke or anything.
Reason to add/change
Arcane Odyssey has gotten too quiet. Even Vetex’s favorite island, Makrinaos, was completely silent until Sentera’s generic overlays were added. This feature wouldn’t intrude on gameplay and could be turned off like usual, for those who want to.
