Light Sources are an issue in Arcane Odyssey.
Why?
I often just find myself charging in extremely dark places like the Ancient Hall and Mount Othrys because of how incredibly fucking dark they are.
For comparison on how useless the Torch and Lantern are just imagine trying to drink soda to get rid of spice, sure it helps a little bit but holy shit you are gonna not be having a good time.

What?
My solution to this is a dark sea addition lantern, that can be dropped by Atlanteans or found in dark sea chests. These can be hitched to your waist like the regular lantern but magnify its usefulness and coolness by 10.
For example, it can light up almost the entirety of Ancient Halls.
I don’t see this being much of an issue as light sources arent an issue in-game and this is merely out of player convienence, especially if you are like me and like grinding clearstones but have to turn down your graphics to 1 just to see shit.
Also, this lantern glows corresponding to your color and even has a sort of explosion effect when u charge your energy. (Sorry shadow mages, ur getting white).

I think a better light source would be soo helpful. I get that caves are supposed to be dark, but zero visibility in a game makes it feel like NOT a game :sob:. If they are able to highlight chests and items, it would be too op. I say it should have like 10 minutes of use until it runs out of power. Maybe there could be a fuel source for it in the dark sea as well.

Why effort only at 3 :frowning:

idk what those stars are supposed to be rating lol. I thought that it’s how much effort it would take Vetex to implement it into the game.

Oh hmm, I thought it meant how much effort the poster put into the idea

Idk man don’t ask me

Both of these things are slightly over the top.
No light source should be able to passively remove all darkness from the entire game AND give you passive revealing at the same time.

As much as I think all the current light sources in the game are absolutely useless, I mean I get more light from my greatsword imbue than my torch.

I personally see them as:
Effort: The amount of effort put in the suggestion.
Quality: How easy it is to read and understand the suggestion.
Reasonability: How reasonable the suggestion is.

Effort and quality don’t really matter in the grand scheme of things, its less critiquing the suggestion its self and more so how it’s been written.
A really shitty suggestion can have lots of detail and be super comprehensible, though that rarely happens.

if you want to fix the darkness problem then do that, no need for a permanent revealing effect

I have the best idea: Torch skills.

Removed the Revealing

Removed the revealing

<_<
I’m 100% not the guy he is talking about yep totally not me…

make torches a weapon that inflict burning

The current lanterns suck so yes, I would love to have an arcanium lantern that can guide my way.

Bonus points if I can get arcanium lanterns/lamps for my ship too.

I genuinely wasn’t thinking of anyone in particular when I said that lol.

I know, but I find it funny that I fit the stereotype so well
well the more I write the better I get so it’s fine to call my ideas trash it helps me make better ones

Hey, I remember adding this idea to one of my random suggestions once. It would be really nice QOL if there was a stronger passive light source than the pitiful waist lantern.

This is a bit too much for a waist lantern. I think the arcanium waist lantern should be twice as strong as the current waist lantern passively, and maybe it will become stronger when you are in the dark (so you character isn’t overly saturated and tinted in normal light).

An arcanium torch-like tool should also come with the arcanium waist lantern. This is a stronger torch (maybe 50% more range and brightness) that can be toggled using click to act as a flashlight. And maybe it should have an ability where you can decrease max energy to increase it’s range and brightness by an additional 50% (additive) and keep the torch on passively, even when you switch.

So the rating have never been used “correctly”, with most people just putting blanket 5 or 1 stars on suggestions as a super upvote/downvote basically since their inception, but it’s interesting to see how the terms are still being consistently misinterpreted.

Effort is obvious, but Quality was intended to be “How good/well thought out is the idea, and how well is it presented”, and Reasonability was intended to be “How easy would this suggestion be to implement, relative to its impact”.

I’d personally have named them Presentation, Quality and Scope, but if I wanted that change to happen I should have brought it up 2 years ago.

Anyway, enough off-topic ramblings about how to correctly use the ratings system.
this suggestion is stinky get megadownvoted

Shadow magic users

“I can’t see shit!”

This is a good idea and all, but not all magics glow. You would need a heat base magic (like fire, plasma, or magma.) or light magic for it to be better than regular lighting.
