So for context currently my ship is equipped with amplified iron carronades as well as the hammer head ram which gives me a total of 4K ram damage with the strong enchant. I was wondering if it was worth it to change either of these out with the lightning ram and cannons I’ve built. I also managed to get dragonfire cannons from my most recent run in the dark sea (11 sealed chest!)
I used to use earth cannons and light ram, but I now use dragon carronades and hammerhead ram and they’re arguably better. So I would think they’d also be better than lesser lightning arcanium too.
Light ram → Hammerhead ram only decreased ram speed by 0.2 (from the fastest one in the first place) in exchange for a lot more damage
Earth cannons → Dragonfire carronades decreased damage a little bit but i think the range improved and it gets the fire bonus
dragon carronades are better than arcanium even if it has magic applied to it
I’ve been thinking about using the dragon fire one’s but it’ll decrease my speed by like 3 extra which I don’t want to happen
You could opt for coehorns in your siege slot
If speed’s your big concern then get your hands on some warship sails and brisk silver hull armor.
The reason your ship is so slow is because you have too much armor, what do you need all that health for lol.
Beating the bad pirate men
80+ speed is good as it stands I just wanted to get to the first layer of the dark sea faster.
The health pool also helps since the weather in that area of the game is horrible although I have 100% stability something I could probably trade off for turning power
I disagree on 80 speed being good lol.
Most people, especially people planning to go through the dark seas, have like 120+ speed.
My friend uses a 155 speed brig.
After looking at a previous post asking about the stats involved, I may just invest in a warship sail cloth since it looks pretty good and gives a decent amount of speed despite lowing my durability by only 1.9k
If you want some free extra armor without sacrificing speed, put hard/armored on your ram and it’ll give a good chunk of extra defense and ram defense.
That actually may be better then just leaving it with strong seeing as half the time when I one shot sail boats it doesn’t health from the damage it does! Thanks for the advice
its really not…a caravel can outspeed that
120 speed is a good starting point
Really? I’ve been using high 80 to low 90 speed this whole time without mortars
I am so sorry for you.
Dark sea runs must take so long in a brig that slow lol.
Don’t feel too bad, though, I also had a time where I thought that armor was more important than speed.
I mean an average run for me takes a little over an hour
now imagine that but your brig moves 50% faster lol.
Do I need brisk on my hull instead of armored? I have brisk on my sailcloth already.
warship sailcloth will get you a metric ton more speed if you’re willing to sacrifice a bunch of defense for it. (this is a good trade)
brisk adds 7 speed to hull armor (alot)
the new silver armor trim is heavily lacking in defense but has very good speed stats and has some stability so its viable for the dark sea.
remember that if you run a high speed ship you can get through the dark seas easier but its safer to avoid atlantean ships at all costs (or ramming speed boost off of them)
Dont know what build theyre using then. Ive had no problem catching up and passing them up before
