When AO takes place, the peacekeeper hasn’t started hunting curses yet, so magic is the only practical way to keep curse users in check. Even the weakness to seawater for curses might not be canon anymore
strength, warrior, vitality stat builds using magic indirectly to use skills or whatnot to be on equal standing with mages

Good point. I think it’d be pretty neat if in the future we get side-tracked by an anti-magic group or person, since we have magic-users in our party (or if the player themself uses it).
Their first mind isn’t open yet, though. I’m talking about people who can explicitly use magic: spells, imbuements, the whole shebang.
Getting rid of magic users would give free reign to those with curses, since vetex basically confirmed that weapon/strength users are just outright weaker than magic users

I’ve seen this exact idea so many times that I’ll just copypaste some of my response:
This is literally impossible in a universe with how powerful magic is, the issue I see with “anti magic faction” is that they would get Scythe Goddard’d within a week of getting known in the world, because magic, rather obviously, is extremely powerful.
A faction protesting the use of magic would find itself wiped out by literally every other faction, because guess what? They ALL use magic to stay alive. And if you say something like “they’ll just be strong enough to defend themselves!”, they literally can’t without being a hypocrite. Fighting styles use magic, and so do weapons (that’s what weapon aura is), so if they wanna defend themselves without magic, they’d be killed instantly. And to repeat what people have already said: magic energy is literally life force effectively, so they’re protesting life itself.
An anti-magic faction is by far one of the dumbest and least plausible ideas I’ve read in a long time, and I’ve read the chatgpt curse suggestion again.

Honestly I think it’s a missed opportunity if we don’t get an anti magic faction
i really dont see why a anti magic faction should exist when, once again, people will literally die without magic. it is their life force. its also the standard way people fight. even if there was a anti-magic faction, they’d have to have some massive plot armor to be able to grow to the point where they’re potentially a threat to us and other people considering fighting without the use of magic is basically suicide.
It’s not that much of a stretch if we look at it from a real-world perspective. There are countless historical examples of uprisings against governments with far superior technology and with vast more resources. Just because an anti-magic group won’t have much success doesn’t mean it won’t happen. And like I’ve said before, it’s the use of physical, tangible manifestation of magic that comes from having open minds, not the raw magic essence of life-force, that people would be against due to past abuses of its use.

Once again, people would be against the use of magic, since it’s been abused in past events. I think it’s quite obvious people wouldn’t try and get rid of the very thing that keeps them alive.
the stretch is that it’s literally impossible to NOT use magic and survive literally ANYONE with magic coming to burn down your base
