As the game stands now, how will the rarity system work in the future?

Disclaimer, this is not a direct criticism or attack on the Vetex system;

My point is, there are the classifications of common, uncommon, rare, mystical, and legendary; however, we are still at level 175 and it will take a long time to reach level 200, I believe. Level aside, I already have 900 powerful scrolls at level “200” out of a possible 600, even if we get the legendary scrolls at level 300 or 400, there would still be a gap of 200 levels, and assuming that, they will be extremely difficult to level up in the future, requiring absurd amounts of experience (which I actually like).

Furthermore, will the “mythical” and “lost” classifications be added as items? (Yes, I know we already have “Lost spells” which are actually mystical, but besides that, lost charts are purple, and lost charts have a purple color as if they were rare, although darker.

(The “lost diplomate” item is also considered a rare item. I understand that name is different from quality, but I’m still a little bothered by this discrepancy.)

  • Anyway, do you think “lost,” “mythical,” and “ancient” will be implemented as classifications?

  • Do you think there will be other types of enchantment scrolls based on the new classifications?

  • Do you think there will be a redefinition of nomenclature and aesthetics of rarity?

I hope we can have a healthy discussion. Everyone has different opinions, blah blah blah. Just remember to respect them… If I have made any mistakes or provided any misinformation, please feel free to correct me.)

I hope the Arcane Odyssey team is doing well. My sincerest compliments.

“Lost” is likely not going to be a rarity-type, as per Lost Scrolls/Magics existing, it’d be counterintuitive to have a “Lost” rarity and a “Lost” item-type, this too goes for “Ancient”.

“Mythical” feels nice, and is technically already a rarity type as per “Mythical” Charts, I do believe this will be a rarity later on.

I hope.
The current enchantments are said to only be tier 2, it wouldn’t make sense to classify them a tier if there’s only going to be, e.g. Strong and Powerful.

I doubt, the rarity system is ingrained in every aspect of the game’s features, changing it would be a large reworking task.

However, in my opinion, it does require a rarity rework, it’s strange I already have “Mystic” items at level 175, if we’re going at the same rate I’ll be getting “Legendary” items by 250[1].

Overall, I believe we’re at a point we have too high rarities relative to our low level.

well the way mythicals work is that they use a legendary rarity and just override the visuals. you can tell because sometimes the override doesn’t work and it’s green. If it were a real rarity, i’d’ve coded it like one.

uggggghhhhhhh
I still question to this day how even the bugs are as inconsistent as the intended features and lore.

The Necronomicon is less insanity-inducing than grazing vetex’s coding

I’m glad you engaged with the topic. That’s exactly what I’ve been thinking all along; it’s too early to get something of that quality. There will probably be more in the future.

This is SO random, but I’ve never seen such a beautiful contraction…why have I never used it

I’d’ve if I knew abt it

Yeah, I generally see a big issue with games adding legendary, mythic etc. items while there’s still years of updates left.
It usually results with legendary items from years ago being outclassed by highly mediocre items thanks to the level difference alone.

It too takes away the possibility of having another “tier”[1] of equipment, you wouldn’t expect a slightly higher leveled “Legendary” equipment to be any better than the previous “Legendary” gear, and neither would the developers.

Basically, what you said in a nutshell, but it just shows how important it is.

Downscaling the rarities is required if we’re going to have any kind of higher “tiered” equipment.

rarity is just how hard it is to obtain the item at the level you’re supposed to, iirc (doesn’t apply to weapons or relics i’m pretty sure, because if it did the sunken weapons would’ve been mystic), and although rarity USUALLY means how strong it is, it doesn’t always have to be that way

My friend, that’s a fact, rarity indicates the item’s strength, but I really think there should be a greater correlation between items. Why is the lost item dark purple while rare items are also a lighter purple? Why isn’t a lost spell dark purple in the inventory as well? Of course, it’s because there’s no inventory system, but there is an item system; it’s quite confusing.

i would say also that charting was the very last feature added to full release, and as such, if mythical was to be an actual rarity, he probably did not want to add it while everyone was yelling at him to get the update out

Idk how vetex decides armor rarity though I think weapon’s should be fine as if I recall their rarity is tied to how many innate unique skills they have. All the rare weapons have 1 unique skills. Legendary for example will likely be fully unique.

Though again armor may be an issue

The code for rarities is already in place, it would take longer to add a fake rarity like he did.

That’s what I thought too, adding a new rarity should take less than 5 minutes, as all it requires is the adjective, color and that’s that.

It could be that “Mythical” is an actual rarity, but for some reason the chart is set as “Legendary” at first, and then is applied as “Mythical” later, but sometimes fails?

It’s so goofy.

Well remember how I thought all humanoids by default got aura and only non-enemy NPCs had their aura removed?

Yeah, I remember it far too well.

a counter-argument to “item quality”: oracle items armor/hats are generally rubbish. But you already mentioned that it’s “usually”
