One’s an insult trying to frame “trying to win” or “being good at a video game” as some sort of negative trait, and the other is someone who engages with PvP.
GET OUT! BHVR IS BUM! GET OUT!
They do anything but making the game balance. I think vetex should outsource the game balancing to BHVR balancing team
PK is merely a number.
Skill is something that is only defined by experience.
i am deathly afraid of your sister (never met her but it has ‘giving my older sibling the controller’ vibes)
It is! Thats why I put the option skill issue! No one in their sane mind would say pk is a definite measure of skill or being a PvP player.
Contrary to other people, I define PvPer as anybody who just enjoys that player vs. player experience.
meh
Got a 1:10 pkill to hour ratio. More kills u get the more u think u need to PvE for shit
high quality bait ![]()
Using Player kills is not really accurate, like even IF you are gonna use player kills then it shouldn’t be the total but the hours to kills ratio
But mainly it’s inaccurate since like… I personally would not count a lot of them from pre full release, some so called “PvPers” were jumping PvErs or under levels on purpose to inflate their kill numbers and ego
There’s also the difference between Duel PvP and PvP servers, duels or like elysium fights were generally without things like potions and such, but PvP servers it’s just whoever has the most backup/potions wins (most of the time), which.. let’s be real having a massive advantage as that would not really make you better at pvp
Even now with the PvP toggle, some people will get the jump on people doing PvE stuff with their toggle on to try scoring a free kill.

thats a lot of emotions over someone else’s kill count
Can’t wait for ELO so we put this argument to rest
Bro pre-FR I was at 120 PKs and I can beat up players with PKs in the thousands. PK amount is not a measurement of skill.
it’s just a joke big gank, second I have every right to call them that due to the several times they’ve made me lost charts, spawn-killed me or just been an outright nuisance, I know some pvpers are good but maybe if you guys didn’t fucking ruin everything before the toggle I’d like you guys some more. Here’s 2 stories I have with pvpers, I joined a server and saw a guy with a clan that was a warhammer reference, I complimented him then went about my business, keep in mind I didn’t even know the guy or see him before in-game so I just complimented him, he then proceeded to kill me at palo town, sink my ship, then I did fort castrum, because it was a pvp off zone he sunk my ship and then left, keep in mind before that all I did was say “Nice reference” and he just flat out hunted me for trying to be nice. Second off during the metal mage days I joined a server, spawned at ravenna and instantly left because some no-life metal mage was waiting there for like 10 minutes just so he could find a guy and use pulsar on them. So sorry if I don’t have a very positive view about pvpers after they’ve constantly been a nuisance, downright rude or just fucking annoying. I’m glad I never experienced someone stealing my dark sealed chests before the toggle but I know some people did have to put up with that crap, so instead of all this “uh pvp isn’t that bad guys we’ve not done anything wrong!” try being a pver just doing a legendary chart then pablogonzales 2009 comes out of the bush, kills you, and hunts you down another 2 times before spamming your inbox with “ez ez ez ez ez” So sorry if I struck a nerve and mentioned some of your best childhood friends there.
Yeah, ELO sounds very exciting. The question is, will people use their own builds or will they have to use some predetermined builds?
What’s with the PVP community and always having this weird urge to be antagonistic at the end of an otherwise reasonable post? Genuinely asking here—what does that add except making you look mean?
Anyways, I agree with what others have said here. It’s mostly about intent in regards to what you actively are. That said, I think you lose the right to call yourself a “pure PVE” player at around 500 PKs. Not saying you should be exposed to ganking then, I’m just saying that you should stop categorizing yourself as “like most other players” at that point.
I’ve tried to learn PVP myself but after losing to three artists a total of nine times with no wins, I think it’s time I acknowledge that I suck.
seriously though I’d prefer if we’d have like a custom build maker just for 1v1’s. If not that then have predetermined builds that maybe go on rotation? That would be interesting in regards to balancing.
Literally anything works I just want to delay grinding and farming as long as possible ![]()
There is NObody who are bad at pvp, its just the expertise that comes through playing games over the years competitively. If you have good enough reflexes and response times, you can become a very good pvper with enough time.
Essentially, being good at PvPer boils down to internalizing that games combat system, it ranges from one person to another, but, in average, it takes 500-1k pk to enter the 10% of players who are good at PvP in AO.
Well, with only that much experience no wonder you feel like at a lost. As all things, you need to practice to become better. One weird thing with AO is that most PvPers as well as farmer/grinders forget about grass, so its nice to touch that whenever you can ![]()
That garners attention; people love drama
