Arcturus only appears in two things and neither are canon to the actual AA thing. It appears in the web comic and arcane reborn. The web comic is pretty much fan made and arcane reborn has some things from the web comic.

It’s not a curse, and it can’t have been, as it’s basically a combination. Man made essentially from what I understand. Every normal magic had a curse, not every curse has a magic, but man made Magic’s, do not have curse variants

it’s also possible to mutate a mutation further, but

1. it’s EXTREMELY RARE and
2. the sheer power of that mutation can be fatal for an unprepared user

one such example being from theos’ last stand when he mutated his phoenix magic into something that’s basically a mutation between phoenix and magma. i talked to tech about it, he said that VETEX even named it himself but i don’t remember the name so it’s gotta be canon

Aether lightning likely would be a “lesser” version of these super mutations if they were canon, since aether lightning is a combo of a base magic and a mutation, while according to the person you quoted it would be a mutation mixed with a mutation

Also Aether lightning heavily reduces your lifespan (Probs won’t be that way in AO tho)

It heavily reduced vetex’s lifespan since he had created it without the knowledge of what it would do, while the time in the webcomic and in AR theos mutated his in an increasingly stressful moment. There’s also the thing that theos died from it since his body simply wasn’t ready for the power. However, aether lightning didn’t kill vetex moments after it was created.
