Billets and Arcanium Ingots
I’m sure everyone is familiar with the enchantment scrolls system, so why not borrow it to create a pseudo “crafting” system.
Billets, or weapon-wise unusable models of weapons, can be obtained from sea-based activities like diving, sinking ships, and the Dark Sea. Further explanations will be made after the next paragraph
Arcanium Ingots/Alloys, according to this particular category in the trello:
Can be expected to be quite hard to find, perhaps a 1 in 200 or 250 from a golden chest(or some grindy chance, I’m not the expert with this.) and also (provided by @Mnmlove1) very rarely from sealed chests. We will be able to use this magic metal onto billets to create arcanium weapons that will conduct our magic. After a small talk with one of the mods(my suggestor application) the status of this feature remains unclear so I’ll put it here…
By pairing up a billet with an ingot, you get an arcanium weapon to use for further use. There will be 2 types of billets
Types of (-weapon)Billets:
- Billet: Rugged Billet Model, used for rare tier arcanium weapon, level range depends on the alloy used)
- Ancient Billet: Gilded Billet Model, used for exotic tier arcanium weapons at level 800 to 1000
Types of Arcanium Alloys:
- Salt-Arcanium(not so important): Has too much salt in it, preferably there would be an NPC at a “last-spawnpoint city” who can filter it for a hefty price(at least 5000 Galleons). This item can be obtained from normal Underwater Structures, will have a chance of 1/60 to spawn at a “main-hall” looking place if there are any. Otherwise it would spawn in a place with “meaning”
- Arcanium(Nothing special here, probably will be obtainable in the War Seas. Used to create weapons at Lv. 100 ~ 200)
- Bronze-Arcanium(Remember the Calvus Triasta? It’s made out of bronze and arcanium, so why not make it ourselves as well. Except you don’t make it, you find it in chests in the War Seas. Used to create weapons from Lv. 200 ~ 400)
- Silver-Arcanium: Silver cannons? Silver-Arcanium! Anything that is above this(including) tier will be only obtainable in the Dark Sea. Used to create weapons from Lv. 400 ~ 600
- Gold-Arcanium: Lv. 600 ~ 800
- Ancient-Arcanium: It is so dense and packed with magic from sitting in magic pollution, you can not use a normal billet to create a weapon for unknown reasons. This will be paired with the Ancient Billet to create a higher tiered weapon(hopefully with unique skills I haven’t thought about)
Notice that the names of these items can be suggested in the comments. If you have a better idea for names(and such), don’t hesitate to write an essay on why you offer your opinion.
Elemental Weapons
By elemental weapons, I mean elemental “gems” you can socket onto arcanium(and only arcanium) weapons to… well, give it an element. These elemental gems will only be obtainable in the Dark Sea, where magic pollution caused normal gems to be infused with magic.
Yes, I am aware of the gem-socketing feature that will come soon, so I decided to put this here, to add weapon-specific gems to pair up with arcanium weapons. This gives warriors and non-magic builds a chance to use some magic synergies.
For magic gems, there will be 1 of each default variation only for each magic(so I don’t kill myself collecting these)
For example: The first choice when choosing wood magic is Oak, the Default magic when choosing water magic is Spring, etc…
After creating an arcanium weapon, you can socket an elemental gem onto it, But after that you can’t take it off, making you think twice before creating an elemental weapon(unless vertex adds a destroy-gems-to-resocket system)
Elemental weapons will not cause the bleed status effect, and instead cause the designated status effect(unless the magic causes bleed). After that conjurers can imbue their magic onto the weapon so other than using only 2 or 3 reactions, they can cause around 5 different reactions. To balance this, if an imbuement is used on an elemental-gem arcanium weapon, the damage would be preferably reduced by a flat 5%(Nightmares of Crystal-Ironleg)
Each arcanium weapon can only have one element imbued onto it, lest Arcane Odyssey becomes Genshin Impact with all those elemental reactions.
Except for one exception…
I introduce you to a new exotic tier weapon, found in sealed chests(or weapon chests) only in the Dark Sea.
Snakeburn
Snakeburn: a rapier longer than usual, after imbuing a magic all damage will be reduced by 10%.
Level range is 300 ~ 800(yes very end-game I know)
- Description: A strange, white blade, seemingly forged by a master smith, long forgotten in time. An Acid Gem is attached to the bottom of the hilt and a Poison gem on the top. The two gems seem to coexist with each other, neither try to push out the other.
- Effects: has a chance to cause corroding and poisoned statuses on hit(scales with hit damage, does not stack.)
- Notes about the weapon: As mentioned in the description, the elements don’t synergise with each other. The main concept of this weapon is to be a DoT snake, notice that other weapons can synergize with it.
Weapon Skills:
- Hydra Head Strike: Strike out 9 times in an instant, rendering the enemy to wonder which hit to parry when getting hit is inevitable. (Skill hitbox is similar to crash, a placed explosion in front of you. Visuals will be nine cone-shaped hits like a shotgun pattern. All “hits” count as one hit so yes, it is parryable)
- Coiling Backstab: After grabbing an enemy, swing elegantly behind them and stab the long blade into their chest and shove them away. (A grab move, they will get behind the enemy similar to the Flintlock’s Cheap Shot. When stabbing, the effects will be similar to Spear;s Impaling Strike, which takes a bit of time before the opponent is kicked away. I would like to have the effect create acid-poison shockwaves)
- Poison Shot: Thrust out with immense force, sending a force of magic towards the enemy. (Similar to the Stave’s Piercing Gale, except slightly thinner and faster)
- Swirling Acid: Drawing out the elements of the blade, you swing out in every direction, a dance elegant and deadly. (Similar to Rapier’s Shining Cycle, except slower and wider. The SFX will be the “Exiled” Boss’ huge AoE attack from WoM, preferably slower by .5 seconds or so.)
- Ultimate Art:Lashing Viper: With high technique and expertise, strike out 10 times, 4 instantaneous jabs with each movement. (A very powerful version of Hydra Head Strike, each “strike” is 0.5 seconds and will move you and the opponent “forward” by a few studs. If you are hit by this move you will be stun locked until the 7th strike, parried, blocked, or just being hit.)
I typed all this for around 2 hours and thought about it for around a week.
