Bindings System

You will have 5 new slots in the magic customization menu. They are called Projectiles (Ex. Blasts and Beams), Area (Ex. Explosion), Movement (Ex. High Jumps and Hover), Buffs, and Defense (Any lost spell would be categorized into one of these). You will be able to fill these new slots with bindings which would change all of these types of spells in a unique way. These extra customization options would be more generalized and less specific to each spell.

Bindings will be unlocked through specific methods. Perhaps more challenge based stuff like diving spots. Once you get a binding, they’re permanent to your character and cannot be traded. There will be a good amount of variety to obtain. You may switch bindings in each slot at anytime and store as many as you want. There will be minimal overlap between each binding making each stand out.

Notes:

  • I’ll be making examples to lost spells. They may very much change in the future but they’ll only be used for examples.
  • System might be able to replace lost spells. They can also go alongside them too. You have to turn all this current stuff into a binding to make it work.
  • Name can be worked on, its 4 am send help.
  • Ideas aren’t a full list. There can always be adjustments and more added on to it.

Projectiles

Examples
Blasts, Beams, Meteor Attack, Burst Attack, Barrage Attack, etc.

Ideas

  • Shoot X at once instead of one
  • Speed/Size increase overtime
  • If it hits an opponent, it can chain on to others nearby even if the initial hit didn’t hit them.
  • Hits in an arc similar to fire bow. (Multiple going in front of you but some off to the side)
  • Pierce through walls
Area

Examples
Explosions, Zone

Ideas

  • Hitbox stays out longer
  • Multiple appear the main one
  • Chained area attacks (Explosion hits once, then another hits next to it, so on and so on)
  • Explode randomly in an area around you.
  • Size increase overtime
Movement

Examples
Magic Jump, Magic Dash, Hover, Recoil Jump

Ideas

  • Slightly less distance/speed for slightly less HP reduction on start-up
  • More magic energy for great buffs (Ex. Faster and more height)
  • Pushback opponents that are nearby
  • Able to cancel into attacks/blocks sooner
  • Lower Cooldown
Buffs

Examples
Mode, Enchantment, Transformation

Ideas

  • Enhanced effects
  • Knocks back enemies nearby
  • More HP healed when used (Check trello, it’s an adjustment)
  • Multiple effects at once (More magic energy drain or longer start-up?)
  • Effects get stronger the closer it is to the end.
Defense

Examples
Shields

Ideas

  • Deflect? (Amount of damage would be reduced GREATLY)
  • Multiple at once
  • Passive shield where you can move
  • Apply shields to your party
  • Knockback opponents that touch your shield

ngl sounds like your aspects suggestion but more polished

still, i kinda like the sound of this
especially the ‘apply shields to your party’ part

heres some personal additions too:

  • Attack becomes more destructive/damaging the farther it travels
  • Slight homing-effect
  • Attack starts off more damaging/destructive, but weakens with distance
  • Slightly less powerful, but does more damage through shields
  • Damage increase later in a multi-explosion spell, (more damage on 5th) hit
  • Miniature explosions appear randomly around the main explosion
  • Slightly less powerful, but does more damage through shields
  • Pulls in nearby opponents on a jump
  • One more magic jump before CD starts
  • Jump does damage if an opponent is above and it hits
  • slight damage if you jump on-top of someone
  • Reduced CD on other spells
  • Effects stronger at the beginning, but weaken near the end
  • Pulls in enemies close to you
  • Allows greater penetration on people using shields, on damage or destruction increasing modes
