Falconry

  • Adds a variety of functions to the birds we have and giving them more depth rather than just mere animals to hunt for a source of food ingredient.

  • A new Falconer NPC has been added that takes a spot from existing Wanderer NPC places but there will always be a permanent Falconer NPC at the central square of Redwake.

  • The Falconer NPC will have items useful for taming birds and as well as training them. The following items include:

    • Bird Bait - A holdable consumable item where it’s a half eaten bread. An animation would look like the player taking off pieces of it and throw in front when clicking. This would bring three random birds that spawn in that biome where they would eat the bait and they will not fly away when the player approaches them unless the bait disappears.

    • Millet - An inventory consumable item that looks like a pile of millet. Cannot be held but the model could work like a triangle polygon with millet textures. This will be used in training birds.

    • Bird Cage - A tool used to catch birds. Holding this would allow you to show prompts to catch when near a bird. It can only hold one bird at a time but you can buy multiple bird cages. The size of the model would automatically adjust on the bird caught.

  • New files will no longer have the ability to send a message or reply to one unless they finish a quest where the player learns about bird catching which would then be the model for their messenger birds. Existing files before this update will have a random model instead but they can change their messenger birds later on.

  • The Falconer quest would only be from the permanent Falconer NPC at Redwake and will always teach you how to get a messenger bird. This would give the player five bird bait and one cage, they would be instructed to throw the bird bait in front of the player and then get close to a bird of their choosing where they would then hold the cage and catch the bird. It will then become a tool that has the bird inside which gives you a list that the bird can be permanently used for, in this case a messenger.

  • You can catch birds that stay on your shoulder when being idle for a long time by holding the bird cage tool if you don’t have a bird bait.

  • Newly caught birds would give you a specialty list when holding their cage similar to choosing the job for a deckhand, as such there can only be one per job. The following include:

    • Messenger - It becomes your messenger bird which will be the one to appear when sending or replying to people’s messages every five seconds. Holding their cage would have no interaction.

    • Scouter - It becomes a scouting bird where you can switch to the bird’s POV when interacting with their cage and your character model would then be uncontrollable unless you switch back or take damage. Using the bird’s POV does nothing except fly, the controls would be similar to skyships except with higher turn speed. This can be used as well to scout dark sea islands for efficient exploration.

    • Hunter - It becomes a hunting bird where interacting with their cage would give you options on whether they look for a tier of sea monster. Upon deciding, they will fly up and then a pointer in the compass would direct you to the closest sea monster that fits the tier.

    • Gatherer - It becomes an item gathering bird where interacting with their cage would give you the option to gather reagents, catalysts, food ingredients, or fish. Doing so would passively gather one item every 30 minutes though it can’t catch legendary items, underwater food/potion ingredients, and dark sea items.

  • Caught birds can be trained to improve their specialty using millets. Clicking millets in your inventory would then give you a UI on who you would feed it to. There would only be five levels where they would improve the following:

    • Messenger - For each level, the cooldown of messaging players would be 5/4/3/2/1.

    • Scouter - For each level, their flying speed would become 30/35/40/45/50.

    • Hunter - For the first four levels, they would unlock normal/aberrant/behemoth/abyssal tiers to look for, the fifth level would then give you an one more roll for drop chance on the chosen tier.

    • Gatherer - For the first four levels the passive cooldown would become 30/25/20/15, the fifth level would increase the item fetched to two.

  • Training birds would be similar to giving favorite items for deckhands. Millets would become the general food for all types of birds but certain millets that can only be obtained from wilderness chests would give more training points.

  • The different millets can be anything but there should at least be one for large, medium, and small types of birds.

  • Caught birds can be traded and there can be a possibility of having a seasonal bird as well for rarity’s sake. They will have no special stats aside from vanity.

    • Example would be a skeleton bird for halloween, white owl for yuletide, lovebird for valentine’s and so on.

Oh yeah forgot to add this but untrained and trained birds would have a different stack. Untrained birds will have no specialty on their tool name but trained birds would when hovering your cursor over them.

For example:
Untrained bird: White Pigeon
Trained bird: Hunter White Pigeon/Scouter White Pigeon etc.

wheres the pickpocket option where you can train the bird to steal stuff for you

nvm
