i think you overpaid, but those items aren’t too difficult to get back by farming, so i wouldn’t feel that bad about it
Unrelated, but do you think that we will get back weapon skills that have not been added from disarmed weapons?

A good strat is to destroy ground where kai is and use the corridors while blasting him from each end to keep your distance, once he gets close you go to the other side using dash and rinse and repeat.
You get some space and distance in the cell block so you can take him there too, just farm him before FR because he will get his full moveset.
if you can’t beat kai then trade up. I would suggest doing ds runs to get valuable stuff, and if you do trade up, make sure you are trading with a mage who probably doesn’t need a kai saber
