I was in the nimbus sea just hunting some NPCs bounties.
My fame was reaching high, usually that means that others might hunt you but I had high agility good swimming speed and water breathing potion so my plan in case that happens is just swim to the depths until its safe to leave.
A guy with a bounty of 1.250.000 enters. He gave me a bad vibe since he used a potion to clear the fog of the map so I decided maybe time to go somewhere else.
Back to the menu and clicked continue as usual lets go to a new server.
Two things happened. First it seemed it was a different server since there was a clan guy not there anymore. Second as soon as I logged in. Not even 5 seconds in. The same guy logs in and right away I get the message “Hunter nearby”. I am in combat and now cannot log out.
Well plan B it is. I jump into the coast take a water breathing potion and into the depths I go.
Not only the in combat message never left he managed to track me spawn his brig and drop EXACTLY where I was on top of me. A revealing potion?
Shot me with a poison beam from the surface and when I was getting out of range he got into his brig and kept locating me. I got stressed and gave up.
My question is how?
Can you actually locate the server someone goes to when they swap?
I am also amazed at the speed he did so. Either I did not pay attention and logged into the same server when the other players from other clans left AND he was no longer in sea and back in center Sameria AND he was next to a bounty board to pick my bounty as soon as I logged in or I don’t even know what is going on.
I am not going to call it a cheat but I did not find good answers looking around so I decided to ask here if something like that is possible.
It’s how they joined you the first time and second time around.
They went over to LB posters, saw you were recently online in a location, copied your name and joined you. Which marked the first time they joined as you put it here:
Then he joined you again doing the same thing when you left to hop into another server. And they found you in the ocean as they likely had a Revealing potion, and kept an eye out on their Hunter Nearby combat.
Oh then they likely managed to hover over your name and saw your Fame only for you to leave. Thus they likely typed and copied your name and gave chase.
What bewilders me is that I was not in the leaderboards if that is the top 100 so I dont know. Maybe he wrote down my name the first time and then when I logged to a different server he swapped there?
It still beats me though because how can you do that at that speed? It was almost instant
Yeah that figures the first time he logged in wrote my name down.
But I did not know that was a feature until now! Its actually rather intimidating because someone can write down your name and chase you wherever you go for as long as the hunter finds it amusing.
Not to mention the near instant server hop. Is that done in game or in main menu?
Is there a limit to such hunting feature or I am in someones list and might get hunt any other day?
Aside from the CD between Failed or Successful Hunts - which is like 5-8 mins - they can hunt you again 1-3+ Days later if they felt like it.
More than not though, they likely wrote you off as a 1 time thing and would only go after you again unless you popped up in LB. As it’s much more beneficial to go after those within your Renown Range.
Probably went after you cause you were the highest one they found in awhile. Since LB does have the situation of ppl are either:
offline
outside your skill range
difficult to track down
your friend/person you know
etc.
Would’ve been more beneficial to go after 725/750k+ Renown ppl and not 500k really at 1.25m but what said is done.
If that guy joins, start recording. If he manages to hunt and kill you, then you can server hop. If he follows and proceeds to try and kill you, that is considered witch-hunting, which is not allowed. If you have proof, you can show a mod and they can ban him for X amount of time
I am just checking right now. I would have NEVER figured out the “To username” thing actually is something that can be used to hunt someone.
So from the hunter perspective what happened was:
-Entered the server and saw me as an interesting target
-He grabbed the wanted poster to hunt me
-I logged off and went to the menu
-He expected I would go in game again with the same character so he wrote my name in the teleport feature and probably spammed it otherwise he would not arrive instantly
-Used a revealing potion as soon as he got it
-Tracked me and blew me from the surface
In other words next time I will just log off and switch to another character or not come back for a while rather than returning right away.
Also nice to know there is a cooldown to hunt someone that can be measured in days. Means he probably will leave me alone for now.
I did not know about witch-hunting. Makes 100% sense its not allowed I will try to read a little more about the subject.
I am not used to using recording programs which is to say I dont have any installed or am well versed in using them. I used OBS long time ago for something idk what was it. Might install it if I need to.
About 5 minutes after getting killed I logged again into the bronze sea just to explore a little to let the stress go and I did not see him appear so if its witch hunting only after he killed me at least once then he did not do again and let me be. That or he gave up after 3 minutes thinking I was not coming back.
A hidden feature is while in a roblox game, clicking “f12” Will start/stop a recording. You can tell your recording when the edges of your screen have a red outline. You will need to convert your file to an mp4, as roblox recordings are not supported on the forum. You may also have to run it through a compressor depending on the file size
Yes that did not seem to be the case it seemed to be a leaderboard thing. He ate 40k of my renown which is a price I am willing to pay to not having him on my back anymore.
Interesting advice. I never found much use on those love potions.
My problem is that to make hunting NPCs easier I went all offence so I am rather brittle which is why my strategy was around running away. And this guy had clearly insane reflexes which makes me feel I will die before I even manage to land a potion on him.
I never did a gel potion and I just read it. If what you describe is correct then in theory I can craft such potion as a plan C. I would have to hit him just once with anything like a beam and that would buy me time, correct?
