EP values are confusing as heck. With power and all the substats, its pretty simple. 1 power = 3 EP and 1 substat = 1 EP. Not that hard to understand. (Warning, yapfest inbound)
The problem is with every other stat, starting with defense.
See, according to the wiki 1 defense = 1/3 EP, or 3 defense = 1 EP.
Pretty simple right? WRONG! See, the gear builder uses a different EP system, where 1 defense = 1/3.69 ep, or 3.69 defense = 1 EP. This makes things really confusing, as items that are supposed to have the same efficiency, like fair amulets, instead have different efficiencies.
Ex: while a fair power amulet (and literally every other fair amulet) has 105 EP, a fair defense amulet only has 85.9.
And don’t even get me started on warding. This stat is so confusing in terms of EP. You see, according to theurgist and diatrys items, (the only 2 armor sets in the game that give warding) warding has a miserably low EP of 0.15.But then we have to look at the virtuous enchantment. The virtuous enchantment has an EP of 38.18, while giving 63 defense and 1 warding. But if you do the math, this should be impossible thanks to warding’s pre-established EP of .15. Therefore a virtuous scroll’s EP SHOULD be 17.22 (even lower than t1 enchants.) But it’s not. Which means that for virtuous scrolls, warding goes from having an EP of .15 to an EP of 21.10. That’s a huge jump for no apparent reason aside from making virtuous scrolls look viable.
tl;dr- defense and warding have janked up EPs that need to be fixed. Of course this is all assuming we trust the gear builder and actually look at the EP, which lets be honest most of us just look at the stats.
