There are a ton of bad suggestions that you need to be able to make known are NOT good ideas to implement, however, most people aren’t able to talk in suggestions and those who are don’t like impolitely firing down others ideas (via replies) because clearly they’re trying their best. Simply fix is to add a downvote feature similar to how the upvote feature works, easy fix.
Maybe they should just make it so that replying is locked to trust level 1 instead of 2. That way you can at least explain what is wrong with the suggestion, which helps a lot more than just downvoting if it was a feature.
Even then, not everyone will reply, its like removing the dislike feature from youtube and saying to use comments to express disapproval , it would make the community appreciation of the post warped and not accurate to what most people actually think about it. Downvoting is a quick way to show that you would not want something to be added/changed without having to spend as much time thinking of how to articulate a reply to shoot down their post.
It’s true that even a bad post can get some upvotes overtime, but I don’t think they’ll get enough upvotes to really become a problem.
I do agree with the inability to reply issue, though, as the only solution to communicate an issue with somebodies suggestion post if you are not a member is to click the flag button and send them a dm about it.
This is a forum not reddit. There is no need for down votes as simply not voting on it already shows how many people want it.
it is what it is ¯\(ツ)/¯
Since when does the flag mean “I don’t agree” and not “this dudes breaking the rules”?
