simple opinion poll

  • i can play arcane odyssey geo guesser and still win even if its in the middle of the sea
  • i can navigate without a map
  • i sometimes open the map
  • it depends on where i am
  • i need the map

i can navigate quite easily without it, but that doesn’t mean i don’t use it

i play on 3 graphics so i HAVE to use the map otherwise i cant see a damn thing and end up ramming into a rock and lose 1k ship hp because the render distance is insanely short reached unless i put my graphics at 10 at which point, i Cant Do Jack Shit Coz It Lags

i heard that full release will have a render distance setting though but i dont remember properly

i mean you kinda had to learn to travel without a map if you played on launch as there was no position marker. sure, you had a map, but you had to use the compass and surroundings to figure out where you were.

that was sort of fun to be honest, though it’s hard to argue to go back when it’s so important to less experienced players. also unfinished nimbus with no position marker would be suicide inducing.

hot take but the map should be something you have to progress and unlock since it would make no sense for you to have a map of a full sea that you just entered

i mean… yeah you do that already for the most part. the whole map is clouded, islands only showing after you find them

i mean as in the islands arent clouded, i think its strange that when you start or go into a new sea you literally just have a map out of pocket

but my idea is that it should be something to where its more of a drawn realistic map other than a gameplay one, but your marker thing should still show

If challenged to, I could navigate fairly easily.

However, I end up opening it every ten seconds due to paranoia and muscle memory.

I only use it when its foggy (which seems to be all the time for some reason)

I can navigate trough dark sea without map, eyesight and hearing.
