The Captain’s quarters on NPC Brigs will now be locked and unenterable. Upon defeating the ship, there is a small chance that before the chests spawn, the captains quarters will open

This will reveal an NPC with a lot of different possibilities as to who it can be. If it’s a boss npc then extra chests will spawn when they die to compensate for extra work

The NPC spawned is generated when all the fighting is done, meaning it can be different based on who sunk the ship

Pirate possible reveals

The guy is just a stronger pirate. He’s slightly stronger than the ship’s captain

The guy offers a treasure chart if you let him live. If you choose to spare him, then he will appear as a castaway on your ship. Bringing him to land will give you an exotic+ chart

Your rival. This can only happen rarely if he isn’t currently spawned. When you kill the last pirate, he will reveal in the chat that he was working with these pirates, and you will fight. He has the same drops as normal

Merchant Possibilities

The guy is the ship treasurer. Speaking to him will give you a bunch of items picked from a pool of what the merchant was selling

Assassin Possibilities

The guy is just a stronger assassin

Your rival might also appear here, saying he contracted them to kill you specifically

Ravenna Possibilities

A stronger centurion

Hooded figure. These guys function the same as stronger minibosses, but only appear for players who have beaten Argos

Only after defeating Revon boss: Prince Revon who was with his military escort (joke)

Navy possibilities

Stronger marine.

This guy is an officer who can’t fight. You can kill him and be done, or interrogate him. This will give you notoriety but will also spawn even more chests on top of the sealeds already spawning

Only if silverhold is taken over and you are high level: Commodore Kai, who’s been hiding on this ship

i like this, espically comodore kai, because now when capturing silverhold and the GN brig appears, after clearing there is a chance of kai being on it and is “round 2”

This is pretty cool. I feel like “a small chance” is a bit low for a mechanic that is exclusive to already rare ships, but maybe they will be more common in the later seas.

Bringing a pirate to a city should instead arrest them and instead grant hefty galleons and fame (possibly a good-rep only thing). It doesn’t entirely make sense for a good-rep to spare a pirate and accept what is basically a bribe from them. However, you could argue that guaranteed treasure charts shouldn’t be bad-rep exclusive so I think it’s fine.

to add on a bit:
the pirate will request to be brought to a uninhabitated or whitesummit (negative rep) and in exchange they will give you the chart, or you can bring them to silverhold/palo where the GN (if you are positive rep) will give you some fame and the promised scroll
neutral rep can do either :person_shrugging:
