like I’d be completely down for cargo hauling to be a much bigger risk for players like you’re suggesting here if we didn’t have to spend 30 minutes running in circles with drastically reduced mobility to even start.

ok so people really really really hate players that sink ships hauling cargo because they’re overall just really shitty people that are really proud of being shitty people.

999/1000 times the person that sinks the ship just laughs about it and sails off.

I do think cargo should be a fun activity and be treated the same as treasure chart hunting or diving. Spawning pirates in your path does make it more exciting, but bringing players into a mix is a horrible idea that would immediately make this suggestion a 0/10. Players are too unpredictable in their overall power and skill level, as they can range from completely free to unbeatable.

The biggest issue is that cargo is designed as a mindless grind tool that happens to be insanely risky in certain servers just because it can (and sometimes it’s completely free). Buying and moving cargo is super tedious, probably because it’s a lazy way to balance out free money. Making cargo runs actually risky and fun will be frustrating if the intentionally tedious parts are not removed, so everything has to be reworked for this to be even viable. But I don’t think adding threats in your path is a bad idea, I just think it should be done in a different way and with a whole cargo rework.

and i agree with that, cuz if you make cargo loading automatic then cargo is a free extremely easy extremely fast galleon method, so much that there would be no reason to not always fill your ship with cargo whenever you go to literally any town
cant be changed without a cargo overhaul, but that with your suggestion would be interesting i guess

That’s the point of cargo hauling, it’s simple and safe if you know it’s routes with OK rewards. Just that it is repetitive and tedious, like all laboring jobs.

even with picking up cargo for copious amounts of time right now leaves plenty of room for a guy to come along, gank you and take your galleons. then on top of galleons lost upon death you lost the money you invested into shipping the cargo.

there are other ways to make money, especially through dark sea sealed chests or even just my goat ARISH VISTA BAHAHA
