Details/background on your proposal
Make all existing ship weapons available to all builds and make them have more differing capabilities and stats.(and maybe make the throwing harpoon unobtainable for a second)
The ship parts that scale with a single stat would deal 80% of the damage they’d typically do for a pure build so its not completely terrible but also to incentivize the use of the hybrid weapons
Changes to existing shark hunting attachments
Swivel Cannon
Swivel cannons should be changed to use a cannonball type and not shoot a magic projectile, they should have higher range and damage but also have a higher cd relative to the other parts
Net Launcher
Net launchers should be changed so that they are also an all class weapon and if sharks are hit by them then they should get stunned for a second before turning around, and also they should have a lower fire rate as well.
Harpoon Launchers
Harpoon Launchers should be changed to have a shorter max range, but when a shark is hit with it it gets stuck to the harpoon and you can drag it closer and prevent it from diving(this would also cause the sharks to take full damage from other attacks and such) larger sharks would require more harpoons to prevent them from diving.
Throwing Harpoons
Throwing Harpoons should be removed from the normal ship attachment pool and be made an uncommon attachment which would stay strength exclusive, what would be changed is that the harpoons would have the user’s selected fighting style effects imbued onto the harpoon(it’s a little weird but go with it) and it would work similar to the harpoon gun but you could throw multiple other harpoons to still damage it
New Shark Hunting Attachments
There should be some new tiers of Shark Hunting attachments which would also be able to be used for ship combat as they would deal boosted damage to ships as well, these should probably be added with the dark sea
Uncommon Ship Attachments
- Inferior Magic Rune or Arcanium Swivel Cannon-Would require a magic to be used and shoots a magic pellet as a projectile(scales with magic ofc) or for the arcanium swivel cannon it would basically function how the swivel cannon functions now except it would still use a cannonball
- Mounted Musket-Would scale using weapons and use any gun ammo that would exist in game
- Spirit Net-would be like the net but using spirit effects and uses a bit of health to keep the shark entangled and scale with vitality
*Arcanium Harpoon Launcher-Basically the conjurer version of the harpoon, it would have the magic effects on the harpoons and such
*Large Harpoon Launcher, it would be a seated mounted turret that owuld have the fstyle effects imbued as well, it would also shoot much slower
*Various other hybrid ship hunting weapons that scale with 2 stats
Rare+ Ship Attachments
*Superior Rune-Would allow any player with magic to take control of it and cast magic spells that are boosted to the size of ships while being rooted in place, any spells could be used as long as the player has them, it would provide a lot of magic energy for the ship and have decently long cds for the abilities.
*idk a good name for this-but basically its a rune similar to the attachment above, but it is infused with the powers of a strong radius fist user, allowing a fighting style user to use their abilities and amplifying them to a ship scale there would also be a variant of this that would allow weapon users to do the same but with their weapon skills. This ship part would give much more resisliance and stability and ram defense(physical crash abilites would be similar to using ramming speed) as well as magic storage stat
Other obvious changes include buffing their damage so it is actually worthwhile to use them against sharks(normal attacks still do more damage)
Reason to add/change
Right now Ship attachments are kinda bland and annoying to get for your own build at base because the ones we have rn are class locked, with this change at least the base ones will be accessible for everyone and additional rarer tier ship attachments could be class locked to make it much more interesting for players.
