[Chapter 2] The Sapphire Necklace

The Sapphire Necklace
Chapter 2

An explosion has just occurred in front of the bar. What could it be and who is this lady?

BOOM! Another explosion goes off. It was as if multiple bombings were happening all at once. The bartender cowardly ducked underneath the long bar table panting heavily with an expression of a scared child. Is this a regular occurrence? Whatever it was, I had to go check it out. Both Lady Ruby and I looked at each other and simultaneously walked out of the bar.

As I opened the door to the bar, burned up leafless trees and deep holes in the ground infested the area. What could have caused this? Lady Ruby followed up behind me. Suddenly, an orange, smokey blast hurled towards us and both I as well as the lady dodged the attack by going in opposite directions.

“Bounty Hunters…” Lady Ruby mumbled. Why would people like them be here in an icey, cold wasteland like this island?

As the smoke cleared from the explosion blast, the outline of about 10 people showed; running towards us at that.

“Need a job for galleons? Help me and you can have some, but only if we survive.” Lady Ruby yelled at me. Enough galleons could help me buy a rowboat at a nearby dock on the island and maybe some food from the bar so I could get out of here and head to any island but here.

“Fine, what’s the job m’lady?” I replied back.

“Defeat them and my galleons are all yours.” I then smirked and started to summon my magic circle with my right hand.

Arctic Command!

My spiked ice attack then hit one of the guys in the chest. I could hear him scream even if we were yards away from each other. Though I got one, that isn’t enough for the other nine. Then out of nowhere a huge, red barrage of crystals in a row went towards the enemies. It seemed that it was an attack from Lady Ruby. Though amazed, there’s still more of these guys left. That only means one thing, if I really want to get these guys quickly then I must do… my ultimate attack!

Royal Impact!

A large explosion then occurred to where I targeted and apparently all of the hunters laid there on the ground, defeated.

“Casual explosion users, all show, no damage.” I joked. Though they were bounty hunters, they didn’t really seem like strong ones at that. “Why did they try to attack you?” I asked Lady Ruby. She then waited a while as to what to say but then started to speak.

“Let’s just say, I’m looking for something; Specifically, something of my sister’s. I’m kinda known around these parts but not anywhere else. In this world that we live in, there’s always war. If I find this item, I could possibly stop one.”

“Stop a war, please. There’s no way you can stop one, they always occur each day with a whole bunch of soldiers and weapons used. How important could this item be?”

“Not a physical one you dummy…well not yet at least, a war within my own family. I’m looking for a certain necklace that will clear my sister’s name.”

“What’s the name of this accessory piece anyways? Also you can’t call people dummies when they don’t even know what’s going on! Not my fault I’m in the dark.”

“Sorry about that… just startled, that’s all. Anyways, the necklace I’m looking for is called… The Sapphire Necklace.”

I then started to ponder… should I volunteer to help this woman out, or should I just take the prize money from her and dip? Whatever the case may be, I’m in for a very tough ride.

The ending feels like it’s a actual ending to a short story.
not really a compliment, nor a criticism.

Description: SCP-963-1 is an ornate amulet approximately 15 centimeters in circumference made from white gold, with thirteen (13) ██k brilliant-cut diamonds surrounding a ███k oval-cut ruby in a starburst pattern. It was discovered in the personal effects of ██████ ███ who had been found dead by apparent ██████ , surrounded by a number of supernaturally-related books. Our Agent in the area found that 963-1 was incapable of being damaged and brought it in according to protocol XLR-8R-██.

Dr. Jack Bright, a Junior Staff researcher of good standing, was assigned the responsibility of researching SCP-963-1’s capabilities, and granted access to [REDACTED]. Later that year, SCP-076-2 broke containment (see document 076-2-19A), leading to [REDACTED] deaths and ██ casualties. Doctor Bright was transporting SCP-963-1 by hand past SCP-076-2’s containment unit, and was among the first KIB (killed in breach). Approximately █ days later, D1-113, tasked to clear the area of rubble, discovered 963-1 among the wreckage and picked it up. An immediate, noticeable change came over D1-113.
