Add the creation of up to 4 divisions in clans, with names editable by clan leaders, along with 3 slots for ranks in the clan divisions. This would allow clan structures to be more organized, and since most large clans already have divisions, just makes sense to add into game.
Non-Combatant Toggle
The second part of this suggestion is the Non-Combatant Toggle. Toggling this would allow clan members to not gain infamy from any PVP related sources, and also give 20% of the infamy you would normally gain from hunting them (number negotiable), with a 24 hour timer to change Non-Combatant Status to Combatant Status and Vice Versa.
Upon joining a clan, you will be prompted with a choice of either combatant and non combatant.
This would do three things.
Allow Designation between PVP and PVE members of clans.
Disables Abuse by making it take a whole day to swap status.
Discourage hunting Non-Combatant clan members for infamy, as you’ll barely gain any infamy from hunting them.
Consider adding above as PvE methods to gain infamy if you’ve selected non-combatant member. ) @Zawaito
I do have my concerns that the non-combatant toggle could still be taken advantage of even with the 24 hour timer, therefore I won’t vote now. As for clan divisions, I really like the idea of that but I’d prefer if the amount of divisions that were allowed to be made was perhaps a bit higher, though in actuality, I’m not in the whole clan scene so 4 might be enough.
Alongside it, activities like hunting sea monsters, venturing into the dark seas and fighting mirages should award infamy for a clan if performed by a non-combatant member.
Defeating a mirage should award infamy once a day (per boss)
Successful trips to the dark sea (coming out of it alive) should awar infamy by how far you reached away from the war seas, with subsequent trips only counting past the point you’ve already reached, reseting weekly.
(If you go 1000 meters in, you’ll receive infamy for the 1000 meters. If after that you go 1500 meters, you’ll receive infamy only for the 500. That way it becomes an incentive for longue trips)
Hunting leviathans should always award infamy as their spawn is not consistent like mirages.
This way, you add both a way for PvE players to contribute to the clan, as well as an incentive for loging in daily/weekly
How about when you first enter a clan, you can choose whether to be a combatant or a non combatant member? Then, to change it, you have to ask the leader or officer to change it for you, with the previously defined timer
That way it is far less abusable as you cant just do it on your own. Also, maybe add a fee of either infamy, reputation and/or galeons to the player changing. Kinda like a registration fee of sorts
I do get the gist of it, but having toggles doesn’t sound very well planned out no?
It would be better if clan structures where made where you can easily and properly allocate sub clans of a clan, these sub clans could contribute to the main clan without being a burden to the main clan?
not sure if it would be better, it just sucks that we don’t have enough players in the first place to make pvp rarer like early AO and over that we have people who would abuse mechanics in a heart beat.
hopefuly a better idea can come about, else i’d rather keep the current system.
It’s supposed to allow flexibility in which you choose, instead of being locked to one or the other. The timer prevents it being used at all, unless you specifically plan to become a non-combatant after a hunt, which seems really hard to do considering it takes 24 hours for the change to complete.
Also this doesn’t solve the problem of “server locking”
essentially a PVE clan locking up a full server with their own members for personal use and grinding tons of infamy from just afking or even hunting npc ship boats with no drawbacks/risk
With this problem already being existent, just largely not abused. a mechanic like would further promote such practices.
I still think PVE clans should exist, but they shouldn’t be allowed to like reach top infamy LBS or even high counts by just toggling a “pve mode”
