Class name changes some time later

So vetex proposed class name and that was, a rough moment to put kindly. Though with class color changes being public now and I imagine vetex still wants to change the names for lore sake I thought bringing them back up again after the tension is hopefully down. I’m curious what everyone thinks the names could be while throwing my own hat in.

Oracle

Summary

The first actual name change and one that seemingly went very well and shows changing them to a good name receives better response.

Mage

Summary

Ah who am I kidding it’s perfect in every way

Warrior

Summary

Honestly I got no strong ideas for this one beside like maybe fighter? Swordsman? Though I don’t feel strongly for either

Berserker

Summary

Brawler, it just sounds better and represents the class better, though martial artist works too.

Conjuror

Summary

Spell Blade or arcane blade
You may notice a theme with a lot of hybrids

Warlock

Summary

Spell fist, arcane fist, or arcane brawler

Knight

Summary

Spirit blade

Juggernaut

Summary

Spirit fist of spirit brawler

Savant, Warlord, and Paladin

Summary

Honestly I got nothing for these guys. Vetex seems to like savant but I dunno doesn’t sound as cool as the others really.

That’s all I got imma return to lurking now.

Mage is #1

I’m not becoming a glass magic warrior hell naw

With the names I said it would either be

Glass spell blade

Glass arcane blade

I don’t think warrior is a good weapon class name imo

The only class name change I’d rlly agree with is beserker → brawler, I feel like i’ve grown too accustomed to the others

Same here, conj should stay as conj

The ones you suggested are, in the kindest way I can say this, not much better. Stuff like “arcane blade” or “spell blade” are too specific, same with “swordsman”
We obviously have a lot more variety in terms of weapon other than swords.

Not to mention that this is also a repeating issue, it just doesn’t make sense for the entire class to be oriented around blades, not every weapon has a blade after all.

Swordsman was a wild card for me really, fighter was cause of dnd brain rot from me

And yeah not all weapon users use a sword though it looks like most weapons fall into a sword or a bladed weapon

Though my personal issue and likely vetex with like conjuror is, they’re not really conjuring they’re using magic on weapons

They’re conjuring a layer of their magic over their weapons.

Then why aren’t warlocks called conjurers?

didnt vetex not want compound words as names like “runefist” or “spellblade” or whatever

conjurer is fine
knight should be paladin, and paladin should be renamed to theurgist

Honestly not sure but if I recall correctly weren’t his ideas compound words?

my suggestion:
mage → mage
berserker → berserker
warrior → warrior
conjurer → conjurer
warlock → warlock
oracle → oracle
knight → knight
juggernaut → juggernaut
warlord → warlord
savant → savant

because they put a layer of magic over their fists/legs

as far as my picks would go:

paladin > cleric (clerics existed in the past)
knight > paladin (makes sense as far as d&d goes, and paladins did exist in the past)
juggernaut > monk (monks in media are sometimes portrayed as holy/spiritual fist fighters, definitely fits the bill)
conjurer > artificer (again, makes sense with d&d, fusing weapons with magic, though this is the one with the least irl comparison)

the pures should stay the same, besides maybe changing berserker to brawler

i have no idea for the rest

Oracle

Knight to Paladin

Paladin to Shaman/Sorcerer

Juggernaut to Monk

Mage

Warlock

Berserker to Brawler

Warlord to Berserker

Warrior

Savant to Warlord

Conjurer:
I don’t think it’s a problem of the name, but of the way it’s applied.

What if after you awaken as a conjurer, the weapon you equip are not shown on your character/made invisible when you imbue them with something?
So when you equip/select them, the imbuement will make their shape visible and it’ll seem like you conjured them.

The constant of renaming juggernaut to monk

You do realize that what you did here is kind of similar to what vetex did but less ugly, right?
