Reasoning

After the hybrid weapon stat requirement rework, unawakened Warlords/Conjurers can invest 250 weapons points and access rare weapon skills intended to be Warrior exclusive. This feels like an oversight.

While I appreciate that the game allows players to have freeform stats prior to awakening, this is clearly meant to be a temporary state for experimentation. I don’t think it’s one that players should carry on with forever.

Proposal

Total Point Cap

When on a build that has never awakened, the player cannot invest more than 240 points total (the amount they’d have after awakening at level 120). If they try to, their character info screen will gray out and explain that to invest more points they must progress through the storyline and awaken.

The stat reset system also needs adjusting. When a stat reset is performed after awakening, the player is allowed to distribute their stats freely up until the last point. This should be changed so that past 240 points, no stat points can be invested unless all points are invested.

When on the “Choose your awakening” menu, a player will now be effectively softlocked (no movement, can’t do any attacks, or gain any experience) until they pick an awakening.

Any currently unawakened builds with more than 240 points invested will have their stats reset. Any erased rare/lost spells/techniques or lost knowledge will be refunded back into their inventory.

Remove Penalties

Current unawakened builds suffer a major damage penalty when using attacks that are outside their stat build following the same ratios as awakenings. Also, unawakened weapons have 10% less size. I propose that both of these are removed. So when unawakened, a player can have more room to experiment and find what they like.

Mockup

Conclusion

Some people will lose their build if this suggestion goes through, but it’s a necessary side effect of closing the loophole. I think all edge cases are covered but I appreciate any feedback.

hey so i was making an unawakened build rn and found out that the game already has a system to where you cannot properly use ur build freely, aka i have 170v 90m and currently my magic attacks do like.. 20 damage lmao

On weapons too you get a 10% size penalty if you haven’t awakened, weapon hybrids do need to imbue to remove it too

…But what if I approve of the loophole this would solve. (Don’t worry, I’m definitely not a conjurer.)

I don’t see why this is a problem. You’re sacrificing the benefits from awakening for build freedom, which is a fair tradeoff. I feel like this type of playstyle is what savant was always meant to be but failed to deliver.

honestly if they reverted class assumption (why i deal 15 damage unawakened) then i can totally see more fun build opportunities for some people including me, i dont like impeded freedom on simple things imo

like as of rn, theres not really a sense of choice of classes to pick, just because of baised nerfs/buffs that leans towards others, so in a nutshell im honestly against the whole “you have to be this” because im tired of running the same classes lol

also, great point with no awakening being a fair tradeoff

What do you think about removing the damage nerfs on unawakened builds in addition to this suggestion? So you can do any split with the 240 points with no additional penalty. I think the 0.9x size multiplier on weapons should also be removed in this case

honestly yeah, would make it more solid, cuz normally over 240 on ANY other build that isnt spirit is pure territory
