Meal combination

So basically, the cooking system now is bland. I want to propose combining meals, along with some other recommendations.

Combination

My idea with this is that after you gather the ingredients and cook the meals like now, you can combine those. It would work either like current cooking, with a slot system in the current cooking pots, or with a specialized cooking set. I’m going to attempt a visual:

Standard-meal-meal combination-combined meal

The combined meal would have better status effects, new status effects, and/or better hunger restore. I was thinking this could replace the buffets or pies that you have to place down, and now you would only have to place these down.(Sorry for the bad visual)

Some other suggestion would be a mobile cooking set, either on ships or just to carry like camp markers.

This would add a little depth to the cooking system as well as help with the cook profession later down the line. A little thought: You’d need to have a higher cooking skill to make these combined meals. Anyways, this has been the suggestion, add your own thoughts in the comments.

As a devotee chef, I’d love to see ingredients we can make and something like this too. Things like cheese that can be made later on would be great to see!

insert 1000 Hunger meal with recovery 5, invigorating 5, energizing 5, fortified 1, Agile 1, all with 2 hours and 37 minutes

Well, meals like this already exist, but I’m pretty sure if something like this were to be added it would nerf the effects of adding 2 meals and nerfing the hunger as well. (similar to how 2 spices react)

Something this absurd, prolly not

Absurd? Explain how:

Five effects and invig is 5 which isn’t possible with swift cap which is what gives Agile 1

would be cool if you could actually make a full course meal, needing different types of meals to actually make one.
for instance:
4x apples + Blender + bottle in inventory → apple smoothie
3x fish + Cooking Pot → fish buffet
apple smoothie + fish buffet + specialized cooking set → full course meal: fish buffet & apple smoothie
meals are already pretty strong, more steps should be needed to make stronger meals, each course should be unique (4 fish buffets would be weird for a full course meal)

I was comparing current overpowered meals, but yes they aren’t really possible to the extent you were mentioning

should be balanced if:

  • Locked to chef occupation; alchemists and other occupations shouldn’t be able to make these types of meals
  • Requires some grind; should require at least a drink, appetizer, and the main dish to make. Each part of the course should require a special workstation to make (blender, oven, cooking pot, etc)
  • Normal meals get nerfed in terms of stat buffs
  • Unable to eat with full hunger
If a full course meal gives you ~500 hunger, then you would be unable to eat any sort of meal (therefore not getting any buffs) for a long time, so you should only eat full course meals in specific events (such as legendary shipfights)

would make meals valuable and the chef occupation unique, alchemists are going to have both stat reset pots, luck pots, water breathing pots, love pots, power pots, which are all prob going to be valuable, leaving chefs in the dust

I like your idea and it would make people trafe more because they can’t get some valuable items other occupations make.

saltwater

I think something like this should be LOCKED to the cooking profession.

tl;dr:

now i can make meals even worse than what i usually can cook up
i like it it’s a yes from me
