Community Census on Varying Controversial Features

Saw this comment:

Had the idea to go forwards with it, but in the forums. I’ll try and provide the opinions I think are most spoken by the playerbase, along with the yes/no options.

For your convenience, I tried to sort everything into distinct categories.

Without further ado; the polls.

Notice: “Keep as-is” means that you want to keep the behavior without changes. Do not vote for “Keep as-is” if you are also voting for a change. This causes the poll to inaccurately reflect the playerbase’s opinion.

Fundamental Mechanics

Build Types / Classes
  • Keep as-is
  • Remove entirely (everyone becomes a Savant)
  • Remove, but only for Players (NPCs retain distinct “builds,” players are Savants)
  • Remove for players, they can choose any one awakening option
  • Allow for unlimited stat resets, which is built up by gaining EXP when at max level
  • Make into a “focus” system where the player gets features for certain things more quickly, but does get some things from all builds

Combat

PVP Toggle

Fall Damage

I’ll create one additional reply of any further polls you think I should post within two to three days of this topic’s creation and make it the pinned reply.

I tried to be as encompassing as I could be with these options. My apologies if these do not fit some of your exact opinions, these are just mostly the views I see expressed by the community.

  • Cap to max health - 1 (you can’t die anymore but you’ll be on 1 hp) and add significant stun when it would’ve killed (like 3-5 seconds)

I had my own idea for that sometime ago that just has it’s own balancing nightmare problems, it basically goes along the lines of entirely removing classes

(Suggest a new feature for the game that will instantly make you Public Enemy #1 - #2759 by Amuka)

Same thing happens that happens to Ivar happens with Allanon, the difference being you don’t spawn directly next to the 2nd phase when you get the injury, basically needing to wait it out to actually go continue the story

broken poll, can’t vote

Dirt Accumulation
  • Keep as is
  • Remove Entirely
  • Disappears after 10 or so seconds

Can a patron show this to vetex eventually

i think people underestimate how little 200 studs is, 200 studs is like ierochos height and that’d be the MAX (in this hypothetical at least)

i think max should be around 400 and it be shaped like a bell curve so most islands are around the middle point, some are really small, others are decently tall

What’s the point, vetex doesn’t give a flying fuck about the forums like every other dev

Added a clarification: if you are voting for any change in a multi-choice poll, do not also vote for “keep as-is” as well, please.

You are not required to use all of the provided options for any individual poll.

yeah but patreons his money

i think it should be disabled if youre on your ship, your ship should destroy the wave but take hull damage, rather than currently the wave just passing through the ship

the only issue is i do feel like this thread is kinda pointless as the likelihood of implementation is super low

what if armour was more like dark souls armour where it mostly has resistances to certain different forms of damage (ig for ao it’d be magic, spirit, slicing, and blunt) magic would ofc do magic damage and same for spirit. weapons would have access to both slicing and blunt, and melee would be blunt mostly.
maybe some armours could give some special perks like better cast speed or damage at the cost of losing out on resistances
(it’s a stupid idea, I know, but I just wanted to throw it out there)

better to try something than just wither away in disappointment I guess

i always thought of the npc line of sight check to be a bandaid fix for bad and easily cheesable ai

if the ai didn’t get itself stuck in a corner 80% of the time we wouldn’t need LOS check in the first place

also idk why waves forcibly drag you instead of simply applying knockback once. the latter would be far less annoying imo

he barely gives a shit about testers - the folk who are the TESTING FORCE of new features - why would he give any shit about patreoners?

i love how dirt has 100% ‘remove’

because money talks

I feel like it should disappear after a minute so you can still see it but it won’t be obnoxious

yeah i just copied the one from the original post since it was broken (its fixed now)

but honestly i think it should be outright removed, really no reason to have this in the game it isnt even “immersive” its just form over function
