The idea is simple, it’s the condensing of Magic, Fighting Styles, Weapons, and Spirit Weapons into their own singular unique tool. Allowing you to free up valuable hotbar space for potion or food space.
Note: This could be optional, with a legacy option being available in the options menu. I’ll leave this up to a vote.
Worst case: Saves no slots (until 2nd awakening at least)
Best case: Saves 4 slots
Example before we get into it:
2nd Awakening Conjurer
Magic 1, Magic 2, Weapon 1, Weapon 2, Weapon 3
Becomes
Magic Tool, Weapon Tool
Each tool containing the magics or weapons into one slot.
Magic Tool: Magic 1 → Magic 2
Weapon Tool: Weapon 1 → Weapon 2 → Weapon 3
Function:
How does this work? So, currently for the sake of the example, we have a (rebindable) hotkey, in this case Tab, and it’ll be our cycle button. Our alt cycle button will be holding tab, and pressing shift. Tab goes incrementally in order, Tab + Shift goes decrementally in order. Meaning, if starting from weapon 1… Tab will go: 1 → 2 → 3 → 4; Tab + Shift: 1 → 3 → 2 → 1
Obviously, holding tab disables flaunt here. Likewise, if you rebind the keys, the primary key (cycle key) disables (ideally) whatever the alt key is sharing a binding with. I’d personally probably prefer a Tab + ` binding setup because it’s right next to the 1, 2, 3, and 4 keys. Full access right there, and you’ll see why that’s really useful in the next section.
Advanced functionality:
- Deselected tools remember previously selected weapon for that slot. All tools can be defaulted back to weapon 1 by pressing tab with non equipped.
- Pressing Tab and selecting a tool will auto to weapon 2.
- Pressing Tab + Shift and selection a tool with auto to weapon 3. If there is no weapon 3, then this goes back to the default of weapon 1.
This is here because I’m sure we all love shortcuts, and also because it’s just useful functionality for in-combat quick switching. Ideally, it’ll come as natural to the player with whatever bindings they choose.
QoL:
Obviously, there should be some kind of indicator on what’s equipped. So if you have fire magic selected, it’ll show the fire magic icon on the weapon slot. Likewise with weapons, it’ll show an image of the weapon, and the name above it (some weapons look similar). So if you have multiple of the same weapon selected, say, Commodore Kai’s Saber. It’ll split it up into: C.Kai Saber 1, C.Kai Saber 2, C.Kai Saber 3; or something similar. The same, of course, applies to spirit weapons. With it being based on slot position and quantity of the weapon.
Here’s an example:
Spirit Orb, Patrimony, Spirit Orb
Naming:
S. Orb 1, Patrimony, S. Orb 2
Alternatively, this can be made redundant by providing the icon, and simply providing a slot number above the weapon tool. So it’d be:
For Spirit Orb, Patrimony, Spirit Orb
Name: Slot 1, Slot 2, Slot 3
Icon: Spirit Orb, Patrimony, Spirit Orb
This is likely better, but I’ll put it up to a vote. More options is always better when it comes to suggestions these types of suggestions. Now, is this necessary? Not really, but it sure is gonna free up inventory space regardless in most cases (not too important for pure builds or non-weapon hybrids admittedly).
