Alright, I think the size could be upped.
This is 2x Alaleas, which for the biggest island is pretty small. I think the biggest Island in AO should be the size of Permafrost or 3/4ths of it.
Important Island Sizes should be:
Biggest: Permafrost sized
Larger: Oblitesco/Sabura/Alalea sized
Medium: Mavist/2x Savaria
Smaller Sized: 2x Doom/2x Redwood/2x Savaria
Wilderness Island sizes should be:
Biggest: Judgement Island sized
Larger: Mavist Sized/Dawn Refuges
Medium: Slightly bigger Altavista/ and slightly Moon Lake Isle
Smaller: 1st Sea Volcano, Eve Island, Orange Island sized
Other things to note:
Islands should have more vertical compared to AA islands (some flat/low lying islands are alright if done detailed enough)
More “areas of the sea” areas like the pillars in the 2nd sea and areas of the sea that have preset.
Definitely more islands like Sunrise Ravine/staircase to heaven

No, you need to find the area of Alalea first, then multiply it by two. Not add an extra block to the side
It is the same area, just distributed differently, i copied the shape, and put it right next to it. The area is the same. Multiplication is repeated addition, which is why this works: 2(x) is the same as x+ x=2x so 2(A) is the same as a+a
Permafrost island was smaller than Alalea, unless you mean the entire Crystal Archipelago itself, then yeah. Archipelagos/groups of islands like that will still exist. The sizes you listed are pretty much what I’m going to go off of, I just wanted it to be clear that there won’t be any insanely massive islands
edit: also by 2x i meant more like this (but this doesnt mean the biggest islands will be perfectly square either cuz thats lame) which actually now that I think about it this is 4x lol

I meant the entire size of the crystal archipelago (didnt even know it was called that) or maybe 3/4s of it

I’m not gonna hold you, that’s way too small. Frankly double that size would be perfect for a super large island; it’d give ample room to actually explore while still being manageable.
How tall can we expect an island to go up to? Around half the height of Mt. Seawatch?

Do you understand how small Alalea is? 4 Alalea’s for the (l a r g e s t) island, is a tad bit small. I’d say a decent margin larger than that as the largest size as it’s not current Magius size and still large enough for multiple towns/cities.
Well like I said, archipelagos and large groups of islands will still exist, and no island size is set in stone. If there is ever a need for a massive island, I’ll make one, but don’t expect random wilderness islands to be the size of the whispering forest 
Also, 4x the size of Alalea IS actually massive, a lot of people seem to forget it was pretty big, just that the town itself was small. For more scale, this is a picture of 4 Alaleas, and the red arrow points to Theos, an NPC, which is barely even visible

Adding continents the size of the current game’s map just adds back the old problems that are stated in the TGR post. The max size of an island is going to be 2x the size of Alalea from Arcane due to these reasons
Things can change, like he said if an island needs to be bigger than he’ll make a bigger one.
