TGR and AO are a change for the better, beyond a doubt they are, but id hate to just see magius disappear and have it all go to waste. If the massive landform idea vetex was working towards isnt going to work and its gonna be closer to islands, then i offer a third idea.
Continents. Areas that are plain massive and take up their own server to go into (like a sea). They dont have to be as big as seas but they can be these absolutely massive islands. Id say a continent would be about what magius was in size when the game released or generally with that ball park of release to updates 1 or 2. This can also let you reuse most of the current magius as one continent.
Vetex can use this massive area since it no longer has the limitations of tons of npcs and lots of preformance drawing systems to his advantage. Making big area storylines for continents. Putting dungeons, and treasure. Magius doesnt have to disappear, but it doesnt have to be fully formed yet, if we want to consider the current timeframe.
Magius is a large landmass that has formed on the war torn seas, too young to have reached the massive landscapes we would see hundreds of years later in WoM. due to the large amount of magical energy present in the land, magius has been drawing seperate land masses into it, causing it to become noticably larger in mass compared to usual islands, many wizards have moved there to attempt to study the land or exploit its power to gain and edge in the war. the most powerful of them have set up complex bases and milltia to defend their stakes on magius. while the natives are constantly in the middle of it all, just trying to survive.
You dont have to leave, magius behind, you just gotta go back to its origin.
