Cooler clashes

I know clashes exist as of now, but I was thinking - what if we made clashes…even better?
I’m talking if two berserkers both attempt rush, you have to spam your spacebar to win in a sort of tug of war while this happens:

I’m a royal idiot so I’m assuming this would be a fairly difficult thing to actually put into the game but DAMN it would be cool. (not really suggesting this, just thought about this on the fly)

Alright, since this. . .actually got included in suggestions I’ll put a bit more thought into it.

Alright, so, rather than being RNG, clashes would occur of two ultimate arts hit each other DIRECTLY. This would eliminate the issue of it happening multiple times in a row whilst also making it a feature that can happen often enough to be fun and anticipated.
As for what they’d look like, I’ll break the interactions up between the major stat builds for simplicities sake (Berserker, Warden, Mage, and Warrior). Also, what you’ll have to do will be different depending on your class, which will be stated below.

WUT 2 DU?
Berserker - Rapidly press the Space Bar to raise your meter.
Mage - Same as AA, pressing a sequence of buttons as fast as possible (rather than gaining meter after completion, you gain meter for every button pressed and naturally messing up will slow you down)
Warrior - Move your mouse through pre-generated slashes on the screen (Similar to MGRR’s Blade Mode)

WUT HAPENS
Berserker Vs Berserker - A wild barrage of punches between the two. (as shown above)
Berserker Vs Mage - Like Saitama vs Boros, the Berserker throws a shot and the mage a beam
Berserker Vs Warrior - The berserker catches the blade, resulting in the ensuing struggle.

Mage vs Mage - A clash of two beams (as shown above)
Mage vs Berserker - Like Saitama vs Boros, the Berserker throws a shot and the mage a beam
Mage vs Warrior - The mage throws a ball of magic, and the warrior a projectile slash, and the two will collide mid-air.

Warrior vs Warrior - Both blades will collide, but rather than be hit, will be stalled in the air (as shown above)
Warrior vs Berserker - The berserker catches the blade, resulting in the ensuing struggle.
Warrior vs Mage - The mage throws a ball of magic, and the warrior a projectile slash, and the two will collide mid-air.

Foot Notes: In order to preserve the flow of combat there will be a one-minute timer on cinematic clashes. This is individual to the player, meaning that if I clash with someone, I cannot clash with a different person until that timer dies out.

Breaks the flow of combat.

I believe vetex said at some point that instanced clashing of sorts would never be a thing in favor of the current modular clash system.

I mean, would it? Considering how high paced the combat is, a breif pause (kinda), then quickly getting it back in might make it more enjoyable; i’d also say that when most people play the game they’re in a bit of a character so a clash like these would help the immersion and really give people that sense of power.

I guess it would be kinda wonky in regular combat, but if duels ever get added this would be a must have addition to them.

I think a clashing cooldown would have to be put into place for it to work. A brief pause would be interesting, yes, but if the clashing is instanced, it would be easy to accidentally clash over and over again. It could get tedious if implemented poorly.

I think it would work better if it’s just a thing that happens (like two people punch at the same time and they bounce off one another).

Sounds dope asf would definitely love to see it in game at some point

Now THIS would be more exciting. Not making everything clash, just some things, so it becomes more of a fun occasional thing

just make both beserkers get flung backwards from the crashes colliding

me when the AO players who know nothing about AA flow in (In AA there was a sequence where you had to press random keys in the right order faster than your opponent to win a magic clash.)

Can’t wait to play tennis when i use ultimate art redirect against a conjurer and he uses it too and we do the cool clash

Agreed, also adding the cooldown idea to it at the same time would allow for a cool but rare thing to happen

Make clashing like it was in Arcane Adventures.

I will always feel bad for the modern gen pvper because they’ll never get to experience the sheer ectsacy and excitement from island sized clashes that are half the size of mount othrys

Easily voted. Though I doubt it’s ever coming back. Which is a shame but it is what it is.
