Ok imagine if Calvus actually just used the cloud curse instead of trying to save himself for the death curse and dying like a dumbass. This would give him a leg up, but as we know from Beringer, the cloud curse is a loser nerd curse for loser nerds, so could the player possibly have still beaten Calvus? For the sake of the scenario we’ll say that non-mage players can harm him too.(for the love of God read this its important) Also Calvus won’t just fly away either the fight will stay in the throne room.
Alternatively if you don’t think its possible then do you think the player could have pulled it off with a devourer?
And if you still don’t think so what level do you think the player would have to be at to pull it off?
imo itd be even easier to kill him because he would be trying to figure out how to use the curse instead of his magic. and because he wouldve recently gotten it (ignoring the month timeskip), he wouldnt be as skilled which would probably lead to his downfall
Yeah that’s sorta what I was thinking, especially since his other skills were pretty lacking on account of him going 25/25/25/25 on his savant stats. I’m honestly more just asking how strong people think the cloud curse is here.
Cause the order, specifically the part under his control, has the cloud curse in their possession so if he were to get a curse, provided he doesn’t have any others in a vault, that’d be it.
I said this in the post too, for the sake of this scenario any stat build can hurt him
He would’ve been more than cooked. His Aether magic is much more useful than the cloud curse. A Curse doesn’t ALWAYS mean better, though it usually does.
He would have 1 month to learn how to control Cloud Curse before being confronted by AO MC, which would arguably be more of a downgrade. The fact that it’s a curse makes it useful, but with 1 month of learned control vs the Lost Magic he’s had his entire life makes it less efficient.
The month that Morden had the Death Curse, a PRETTY powerful curse, against Julian’s curse and they tied, not only says a lot about the Death Curse, but also about how much control they need. If they were able to take down Beringer, I assume the curse was not actually that big of a deal. Being able to turn your body into clouds? Sure, it’s useful to dodge attacks (as most curses do), being able to fly? Probably (which Julian also kinda does).
But Aether magic allows Calvus to move like hell, and do his godforsaken 500!500!500!. Trading that for the Cloud Curse, one of the weakest according to Elius, and only with a month of preparation, would make Calvus be in a worse position than he was before.
assuming he’s had time to properly learn how to use the cloud curse (though tbf he’s never properly learned how to use any of his moveset), the mc would easily be dead
the cloud curse may be one of the weaker ones, but it’s still an elemental curse so it should be more than powerful
It seemed like he intended to take the death curse, so I’m guessing yes? Considering its not the actual curse in his body it’d probably just get overridden by whatever curse he takes on
I would presume that he would have only absorbed it when confronted. If you aren’t in danger and the death curse is still out there, why get the weaker one?
