Create a boss fight for Martin the Atlantean

Based on some discussion about canonizing Martin in the Lore Drop Thread. It’d be really cool to see him as the main attraction of the Epicenter, as a final Post-Game boss.

My Ideas

Mechanics

  • When Martin is nearby, the player cannot be inflicted with Water Poisoning.
  • Getting close to Martin, but not quite in his agro range, will show a notification about a dangerous presence lurking around.
  • When Martin agros for the first time after spawning, he will release a loud roar that sends all players and enemies flying upward. Enemies will begin to run away and de-agro if they’re chasing the player, allowing for the player to fight Martin uninterrupted.

Attacks

  • Flaming Epicenter - A Fire Magic (or one of its Ancient equivalents) spell that mirrors a shockwave Explosion, with greater damage closer to its epicenter. Lights the ground on fire, like the fire patches in Fort Castrum raids.
  • Ancient Crash - An Iron Leg-like technique resembling Crash; slow and the initial impact can be dodged with some ease, but also releases a shockwave that pushes players away regardless of if they were hit by the attack itself.
  • Kahunawa Katars: Spiraling Fury - Uses a Claws-type weapon called Kahunawa Katars, made out of the sea monster’s scales. Works more like horizontal Rising Tide than Spiraling Fury.
  • Spirit Dragon - Launches a large dragon-shaped blast at the player, which works similarly to Aithoro upon landing. Limited to two bursts when it collides with a player or the ground, unlike Aithoro.

The idea I wanted to go with was to have Martin mirror the player in-lore (a Savant), but on a degree that the player can’t achieve in the game.

Drops

  • Epicenter Beast Set - Pieces of Martin that give extremely high stats, but inflicts Insanity III.
  • Epicenter Cape - A cape made of Martin’s mutated scales; gives Insanity II in exchange for high stats, although not as much as the Epicenter Beast set.
  • Kahunawa Katars - Comes with a Rising Tide-like skill that only goes horizontally.

if sensing gets added, everytime u try to sense martin u just cant sense him simply because his so strong just like when aizen tried to sense ichigos strength.

martin should be the final boss fr

He thinks he’s

On one hand I love this idea because it would make for some really cool content.
On the other hand you have to find (and sail to) the epicenter for every attempt at it.

though this won’t be a problem if sensing lets us see the “aberration” (the epicenter, most likely)

fun idea, why not make him breathe fire in a circle around the area trapping him and the player(s) inside the fire circle as a short cutscene, which works like the boss fight start.

And like the fire is hot enough to burn away the magic rain in the dark sea around the area, so that could tie into how the player cant get water poisoning.

The Kahunawa Katars’ spiralling tide/tidal drive move could propell him forward like a bull while spiralling in the middle like rising tide does.

Spirit Dragon i feel like it could give +1 insanity to the player for a short moment when hit, since like you say hes supposed to be a mirror to the player, so hes the savant ‘demigod’ of the dark sea while the player is of the war seas

overall i like the idea of Martin being a little boss fight

@arron932
have fun with this thread

Spiraling Fury:

Spiraling fury deals damage on collision when the actual movement ends

Rising tide deals damage on any given time of the skill

Guess I’ll take a crack at it

Martin, Ancient Abomination
Martin would function as an optional superboss found at the Epicenter. The boss is balanced around the player being near or at maxed level with optimal gear and enchants.

Mechanics

  • While aggroed the player is granted full immunity to water poisoning.
  • Once the boss has been aggroed a wall of flames will appear around the epicenter, preventing retreat until Martin is dead.
  • If the player isn’t done with the story then they will instantly die upon boss activation with a death message of “[Player]'s body couldn’t handle the immense energy.”

Attacks

Yapping
  • Serpent’s Fangs - Martin leaps into the air before using a move akin to crash, upon contact creates a giant explosion of lingering fire. At 60% HP this move will cause a spiral of shockwaves to radiate outwards from where he landed.
  • Tiamat’s Breath - A more condensed, long range variant of surge utilizing his magic. Martin will slowly track the player with it, occasionally switching to track where they are going instead of where they were.
  • Abomination’s Fury - Martin slams the ground with his foot, creating a massive ring of fire that spreads outwards. He will repeat this move for every 10% of HP he’s missing (5 repeats max.)
  • Ignite the Skies - Martin will launch 20-30 blasts of fire into the sky, shortly after they will fall downwards on to the epicenter’s general area. At 60% HP these blasts will become significantly larger in size and explosion radius.
  • Call to Jormungandr - A giant snake-shaped construct formed from Martin’s magic that will charge at the player 3 times before vanishing, each charge being faster than the last. At half health this construct will begin feinting charges.
  • Ouroboros Constriction - At 50% HP, Martin can use the aforementioned construct to circle the entire epicenter, slowly encroaching closer to Martin’s position when he used the move. This move can be used in tandem with any of his other moves aside from Call to Jormungandr.
  • Blue Dawn - Upon reaching 10% of his HP we will utilize his final move, Blue Dawn. Martin ascends to the skies before surrounding himself in a massive ball of fire, granting him complete immunity to damage. While this move is in effect he will rapidly fire out blasts in random directions as his HP gradually drains, the ball that surrounds him deals high amounts of damage and gradually grows as his HP gets lower.

Drops

  • Ancient Abomination Set - Clothes worn by Martin himself, boasts high amounts of attack power, intensity, and defense at the cost of inflicting 2 insanity per piece.
  • Cloak of the Seas - A regal cape from a civilization lost to time, doesn’t grant any stats but causes an aura of dark blue and green fire to surround the player. This item cannot be traded or sold and only drops from the first time beating him.

Misc.

  • Martin uses a unique variation of fire magic that sports a dark blue and green color palette and inflicts a significantly stronger version of the fire DoT called Tainted Flames.
  • None of his attacks can be outclashed, either both attacks are destroyed or he wins the clash.

You are NOT chaser scholar of the crimson contract

If you jump him with at least 5 players Martin gets serious and all his attacks can level the 6 war seas
