I find it interesting to see that alot of these moves show that most people see Strenght not that much of a pure CqC class, but mainly a mobility, fakeout, and aggro type playstyle.

I see Strength that way because it’s a pure cqc class.

Strength, as it exists now, fills the role of the highly-aggressive, close ranged archetype we in the fighting game community refer to as “rushdown”; and by the nature of all fighting games, rushdown characters require good mixup tools in order to be viable.

Chipp would not be good if he couldn’t teleport and jump around the screen and do all his wacky movement shit.



Slayer would not be good if he didn’t have Dandy Step, or a really good backda–

okay my point is from a game design perspective you can’t just give a character exclusively offensive tools otherwise they’re just completely fucked whenever they’re put even slightly on the back foot. you NEED to have some kind of tool to help you get out of pressure, or make YOUR pressure less predictable so that you can make YOUR pressure more effective–because a rushdown character’s entire focus is PRESSURE.

I agree, but alot of people see Strenght as a pure statchecking in CqC route, despite it generally being them that GET statchecked by other classes. Just like you, I rather prefer Strength being the class with the tools to simply outplay you incredibly hard in CqC to the point they can’t be statchecked there.

I mean, if that’s how they build them, then sure. Strength already has a lot more movement tools than the other primary classes, though, so the building blocks are already there to make something more akin to a proper rushdown character. The only thing it needs is for Vetex to lean into that.

in strive? yeah i sure fucking would be! because as far as i can tell this backdash is STRAIGHT ASS! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

his backdash used to be GREAT, though.

i tried looking up other backdash frame data for comparison but he is by far the worst :sob: he does have that one move specifically made for backdash which is hard to read (especially since his whole stepdash thing is disappearing)

Stormstrength: just punch/kick really hard to make big tornado that go short distance, if enemy caught they cant move only block, allies unaffected by it, user can fly in tornado while it active & can use things like crash or rushdown without using up air moves meter thingy

for 4 seconds after activation, the user of the technique will be outlined by their fighting style’s main color (orange-red for thermo, grayish for cfist, etc) and slowed to a walk. if the user is hit by an attack while this effect is active, they reduce the damage of the attack by 50% and activate focus (is separate from focus)
