Yeah it feels awful to use, but it does have my favorite dodge reflex. Afterimage lets me use the full-distance dashes for exploring (very helpful in the Dark Sea) and in combat I can use the shorter but more evasive teleports (is what I would say if maintaining heat was possible for me)
I feel like Thermo has the advantage of speed which is worth it. It also burns and does deecent damage, yes it got heavily nerfed hut its still alright for me. For me boxing and cfist dont have any significant advantages.

its just so fun to use, i say this from experience on my warrior file

its incredibly lackluster in terms of imbue damage, and it takes ammo. like bro how bad can you get

incredibly well rounded, working well for any build
worst magic: anything that doesnt work in water
i thought fire would work in water like it did in aa

Poison damage is cracked and its viable in a lot of builds
As a person with a poison Conjurer, Poison seems pretty busted in my opinion.
As I said, it has it’s niches, Poison Piercing Shot is funny yeah, but it can’t compete with the meta Conjurers

I genuinely believe there really isn’t a best whatever as everything’s balanced to be useful in the right situation, but if I’m gonna be honest, here’s what my list would look like:
Worst Style: Cannon fist. Using it is a galleon sink and its M1 feels like a gimmick.
Best Style: Sailor. Nice stats and synergies, only downside is having to leave yourself momentarily vulnerable to drink seawater.
Worst Magic: Tied between Ash and Plasma. One’s basically useless by itself, the other just has bad stats.
Best Magic: Shadow. Synergies are overrated.
Worst Weapon: Flintlock. It’s just outclassed by everything else.
Best Weapon: Tied between Dual Swords, Staves and Bows.

Most people aren’t running intensity 
Sand is overlooked too much, even if it’s not the best of the best it has the same impact damage as crystal (0.975x) with average speed which is kind of insane. Its size is being nerfed from 1.15x —> 1.05x however it’s blind is being buffed alongside its imbue damage.

As everyone’s kinda pointed out, it does depend on what build you’re running.
Best Magic
Mage: Wind
As a mage honestly wind is just kinda unfair, just use high speed + high agility then pulsar → reflex away → puslar → reflex away more or less unpunishable gameplay.
Fast magic mage is in general currently ridiculously strong with high speed/agility stats. Light, Shadow, Wind, etc…
Conjurer: Acid
For conjurers, a key focus is the bleed synergy, not just the base stats. Acid more or less covers this without sacrificing its base stats significantly. Another good option is Fire. Conjurers do less base weapon damage than other weapon builds thanks to imbue stats, so you want that bleed synergy.
Warlock: Ice/Lightning
This is entirely because of sailorlock and yeah it’s pretty self-explanatory.
Savant: Shadow
While an Ice Lightning sailor style savant is really tempting (and from experience, really fun), it’s ultimately just worse warlock. Better to choose a magic which you’ll get better stats from.
Best Fighting Style
Berserker: Iron Leg
Iron leg is definitely a great choice for a Berserker. However, I would actually use it for a second fighting style. Due to the differences between mage and berserker stat requirements, you’ll be able to use not just Iron Leg Shot but also Iron Leg Focus, which is undeniably strong (this may change next patch).
Thermo fist is a better primary (faster/further Crash, Rushdown, Axe Slash, Selino, etc.), if you intend to use ileg as a secondary. But there is really no reason not to use Iron Leg as a berserker, hence why it’s the best.
Warlock: Sailor Style
Like with best warlock magic, this is entirely because of the stun synergies.
Warlord: Thermo Fist
Even after the nerfs, thermolord is still king. Unlike with warlock or berserker, every skill you use as a warlord will increase your heat bar. Furthermore, at full heat you’ll have a speed stat equal to a Light Magic conjurer but with extremely powerful stats and a bleed synergy. While keeping that heat stat up is harder now, it’s still doable with good attack speed.
Savant: Basic
There really isn’t much of a choice with Savant, due to your lower stats. Iron Leg is an option if you have at least 70 strength, but it can be riskier unless you have enough strength to use Shot.
Best Weapon
Warrior: Greenwish Staff
Good mobility, good offense, not much to dislike. Sunken Sword is close thanks to Rising Tide, but Piercing Gale is significantly faster than Flying Phoenix.
Conjurer: Greenwish Staff
Same reason as for warrior.
Warlord: Greenwish Staff
Did I mention that this is just a really good weapon because yeah it is.
Savant: Iron Staff
Staff.

importantly sand also has great heat magic synergies (including with Wood, for some reason) and doesn’t clear their DoTs, with Sandy’s duration it’s not a bad choice for mage
Warlord’s gonna use Iron Staff since they want Shot

good point (I only have 1 warlord file and haven’t touched it in ages)
