Pure melee is more likely possible
i think that i found the way how he did it.
you can damage npc and let another person to kill it, you will get reward with it and hopefully don’t get strike with NPC kill count
quite a weird way tbh sine iirc if you do more damage to an npc you get more exp? not sure about this
you do but you can bug it somehow as in someone kills them for you y’know like they deal the first shot and you kill them or somethin I dunno

It just gets more and more chaotic as the gif goes on that I had to watch it like 3 times to actually understand what just happened
