Customizable Magic M1s
“What do you mean ‘customizable Magic M1s’? You mean the little blasts?”
Yup, the very same. I wanna make those customizable. Basically, I want to make it so that Magic users of differing builds and playstyles can make their M1 into something that suits them better. Now, I don’t mean we should make Magic M1s the same as spells in terms of versatility, they’re still a basic attack, but I do want to make it so we have options for what kind of basic attack we can use.
Honestly, it’d probably be better to provide an example. So, let’s say you’re… I dunno, a Lightning Warlock with Iron Leg. You’re definitely very CQC-centric, though obviously you can always back off and use Magic whenever you need to. Still, you’d prefer to have ways to fend someone off if they close the gap while you’re using magic, right? Obviously, you could just switch to Iron Leg. Or. You could just make a sword out of Lightning itself and start swinging it. Right?
“Uhhh, what? Have you gone off the deep end?”
Maybe. Not really sure yet.
When I first thought of it, it seemed cool and reasonable in my mind. I mean, why couldn’t a magic user shape their Magic into a weapon of some sort in order to fight? Hell, I don’t see why Metal, Ice and Earth Mages couldn’t do exactly that. And I’m not just talking about swords. Stuff like bows and battle axes and daggers, too.
This is what I mean by customizable Magic M1s. Replacing your Magic M1 with what is essentially an Elder Scrolls Bound Weapon made from your own Magic.
“Okaaayyy… But why though?”
The cool factor, maybe? The Sukuna cosplayers will go wild with the Fire Bow M1.
Plus, again, some versatility to Magic M1s would be pretty great. I mean, let’s face it, pretty sure nobody ever genuinely uses Magic M1s in combat. I’ve seen one very specific use case where someone will hop on another player’s still moving ship and M1 them from the deck, but that’s it.
“Okay, but like… Arcanium Weapons are a thing?”
As far as I know, via the Trello, Arcanium Weapons will be able to have specific spells bound to them, and will alter the properties of said spell based on the kind of weapon it’s bound to.
That is not what I’m proposing here. I simply want Magic M1s to actually have some decent utility.
Although, it would be interesting if your choice of M1 weapon influenced your spell in some way. But again, not what I’m here to do.
“Most of what you’ve said can just be accomplished by a Mage equipping a weapon to use for its M1s. And Conjurers are pretty much the antithesis of your idea. So what’s the point?”
Ahhh, but see, that’s just it. You switch to other things to do that, but having this feature would enable you to just be able to do the same with your Magic without any issues. Plus, it’ll obviously scale with your Magic stat, rather than your weapon stat, which would make it more useful than swapping to a weapon.
Anyways, this is just an idea I had to put out there, cause it nagged at my mind. Figured it would be better to at least try and see how it does rather than just never giving it a chance in the first place. So I’m sorry if I just seem to be another schizo on the forums, talking out of his ass.
