We canât control the weird people, and just because they exist doesnât mean the thing needs to be ruined for us. Iris, as a character, is separate from the âpeopleâ who âenjoyâ her. You, along with everyone else, are fully capable of buying the plush with none of the baggage of what others have done if you simply choose to ignore it.
this is exactly the point im trying to make. why does all our discourse about the cute unstable redhead plushie have to be around how people will goon to it? thatâs about the only thing iâve seen about it on vetcord and the forums, and itâs kinda disgusting

Most of the time, I donât really see any sort of activity from these sorts of weird people because I donât end up in the same sort of spaces as them. I do however, see many people complaining about them, regardless of whether or not they are even there in the first place.
You have to be careful when acting like this otherwise a concern for how women are treated will instead result in trying to prevent anything feminine existing at all, which affects even more people. Not to mention how trying to stop or shame these âweird peopleâ can also just be an excuse to be sexist (If you played TDS back in 2021 you may know exactly what I mean)

As far as i know i dont think AO has a super big problem with this besides a few outliers..
Frankly i wouldnt really care if it werent for the fact it really does impact how many people view the characters it happens to (edit: and when it dominates a part of the discussion around that character + causes stuff like mischaracterization, and objectification especially with female characters) and so i do find it upsetting when yet another example appears
Though that hasnt happened with iris unless im like super blind
Either way, big thing we all need to remember is that we shouldnt let people like this ruin stuff for us!!
