Proposal

As we all know Arcane Odyssey is mainly a sea based game with minimal sky island content, I’ve always wondered why not have more sky related content. My proposal is basically to introduce a ton of new stuff to the dark sea related to the sky portion of the game.

Details

Ill start this off with how to reach said islands, there will be a stone platform with a hole in the middle for a geyser. Around 1-3 minutes the geyser will activate launching you up onto the sky island. alternatively islands as tall as the step stones could pierce a sky island and that’s an alternate way to find one.

For the content they introduce to the game, could include but not excluding; New Enemies, New Types of Sealed Chests, New Type of Sky Related Structures, and New Weapon/items based on new enemies.

The new Enemies would be called Mutated Avian, and would have bird like features depending on the intensity of the mutation, unlike sirens most avians were residents of sky islands that drifted into the dark sea. These avians could drop weapons with the avian modification to it, or could have some unique weapons like a great sword called Huginn (based of norse mythos) or other mythical bird related names.

The new structures would be Ruined sky temples, to ruined cities, stuff related to where the game might be going in terms of pantheon. Within these structures you could add a chest type called Sky Sealed Chests, these would include sails and other materials like ancient ship parts that relate to the sky islands.

Reason to add/change

The reason they should add this is for the content, as time goes on the game slowly loses more and more replay-ability. So far the dark sea is an amazing end game content with limitless additions that could be added onto it. I feel as if sky islands in the dark sea would be very fun for everyone. Especially with the nimbus sea on the horizon. Adding something like this could also just help give the game more life, show that some islands had civilization, and to just add more of that juicy lore!

But as always I am super glad that Vetex is doing an amazing job so far with AO. I thank him and everyone who has worked on this game so far for their amazing work that just makes this game absolutely stunning. From the community to the devs we thank you.

would be good in 2nd sea aka nimbus sea other than that it may complicate and lag the game for others, where’s our dark sea diving spots? and crews to hire? you’re telling me not one legendary crew managed to stick together and survive in just layer 1 by suriving on the islands resources? maybe those treasure islands should have a crew or something etc. etc.
i dont know where the storm is from but sky sealed chests? focus on using the current sky islands for reference we have djinn ruins but where did this civilisation go? i don’t read on the lore since it seems to be not done yet which i dont mind so once it’s done i hope it makes sense and has good moral lessons and so on, we have the epicentre too that isnt finished yet it seems maybe there you reach sky islands? i’m throwing really loose ideas but take that you should roam around our current ones and base it on those i didn’t see sky brigs which respect, that’s why maybe safe it for nimbus sea idk how that’s gonna be but i expect the sea floor to have special properties like it’s all ice save for few locations around geysers or something etc. etc…

pretty sure the thingamajig for a legendary crew to survive in the layer 1 of the dark sea will just result in them turning into atlanteans or lost sailors

yeah makes sense but players and our crew can spend hours in layer 3+ without even being an atlantean one so say a legendary crew of pirates went themselves from somewhere ( the sky duh ) maybe they took shelter and found a way to resist the dark sea?

Maybe we gotta rent skyships in cirrus but once we get to skyhall in nimbus there will be a sky shipwright who sells us special sail material and those sky skate things for boats as attachments

don’t forget cloud monsters cloud fish and for the finisher and nice polish on the update cloud white eyes but like his eyes are red and hide white so red eyes hahahahaha ( this is legit a joke for those that don’t take it as one )

dark sea sky islands should have a mechanic were you have to worry about fuel

It mainly depends on how good the loot could be.

there’s the storm so it looks like there’s always clouds above but maybe your ship takes damage too then passively and would need the repairman deckahand to even go, i always thought that maybe nimbus sea should be reached via the sky

maybe close to islands you just dont take damage or something too but like this should be for nimbus sea dark sea

i’ve seen a similar suggestion before, it was about using those large spires with chests on the top, they could have some branching bridges or something going to a small cloud with land, maybe housing an atlantean on it with more loot, and, if the spire were to be tall enough, it could pierce the clouds and on one of these small sky islands could be a survivor (maybe a unique recruitable deckhand, since theyre getting updated and all), maybe slightly mutated but not hostile since theres no rain that high up

My only issue with that, is the bridges like how didn’t they break?

plus again I don’t see it being possible to recruit people that far out so yeah.

Considering that the reason sky islands can stay afloat is BECAUSE of Magic pollution, it’s not too far out of the ordinary to have floating bridges and stuff
