Dark Sealed Chest Modifiers
In Zone 3 (Insanity 2) and beyond, Dark Sealed Chests have a chance to spawn with modifiers. These modifiers don’t take anything away from them but are additive in nature. Some Dark Sealed Chests can have one of the following modifiers: Extra Armor, Extra Weapon, Extra Scroll, Extra Gem, Extra Ship Part, or rarest of them all Boosted Luck. When a Dark Sealed Chest with an Extra modifier is opened, it guarantees one of those drops whilst not affecting the base loot pool.
In other words:
Extra “X” Type Modifiers guarantee that bonus item on top of the base loot pool
Boosted Luck increases the rates for rarer drops (eg. later this’ll boost chances for lost+ spells/techniques/weapons over rare ones)
This’ll also provide a foundation for more modifiers, like Draconic Modifiers for Dragon Guarded Dark Sealed Chests (assuming the Dragon idea isn’t scrapped).
Modifier Resonance:
Having a sufficient amount of Dark Sealed Chests can influence your probability of finding rarer gear from the regular chests of the Dark Sea. They all cap at +50% chance for a reroll in a higher rarity tier (ignoring things like the Atlantean modifier) for each item obtained from the regular chests in the Dark Sea. For luck, this affects all of the regular chests when an island or ship is destroyed, giving them all a chance (capped at +15%) to be tiered up (eg. Regular → Silver; Silver → Gold). Something like the Extra Ship Part modifier chests would increase the amount of regular chests with a small chance to spawn in a bonus Dark Sealed Chest.
I’ll leave this up to a poll.
- I’m for it
- I’m against it
