Arcanium currently is a somewhat elusive material. So far, The only character that meet that canonically uses arcanium is King Calvus since the Triasta of Bronze is made of a arcanium-bronze alloy.
We don’t know the exact ratio of arcanium to bronze, but it’s likely that there’s not enough to make the Triasta an arcanium weapon instead of a regular . That being said, Did the process of making the Triasta use bronze that was turned into a type of arcanium, creating a “arcanium-bronze alloy”, or a combination of an arcanium metal and bronze.
We know that the Ravenna Realm is a reasonably wealthy faction, which brings the value of arcanium into question. How expensive is Arcanium? Does the composition of the Triasta of Bronze have a higher ratio of bronze to arcanium/magic salt as a way to cut costs or as a sign of Ravennan pride in their bronze? The most important component in the production is the magic irradiated salts from the sea. Logically, the value of irradiated sea salt would depend on how much magic it’s absorbed since the quality of arcanium depends on this factor. We know that it could take decades for the sea salt to absorb enough magic to be viable to make a devourer, but we don’t know the time scale for other variants of arcanium
Lastly, how can the Azura Province provide high quality arcanium to their elite soldiers. If High quality arcanium can keep up with the energy output of a curse user, the time scale to create high quality arcanium would be close to the amount of time needed to make arcanium viable for a devourer. The fact that there’s an entire rank of soldiers equipped to this degree makes me wonder if the Azura Province specializes in the production of arcanium at a certain point in their history. We haven’t seen another faction yet with that uses arcanium on a militaristic scale so it’s possible that Azura Province has a method of producing and refining magic irradiated sea salt that’s exclusive to them. Maybe they have a method of harvesting magic irradiated sea salt from the dark sea while mitigating the negative effects like insanity.
Anyways that’s enough rambling, here are the last thoughts:
Thoughts on Devourers - Using sea salt from the dark sea would probably have some side effects but still be the most viable for creating arcanium that can be used to make a devourer. General Argos’ eyes do glow red when he’s using a devourer which could be a sign of insanity, but his eyes are red throughout the entire fight until he’s defeated. What’s strange about Cursebane (Argos’ devourer) is that attacks from it have a dark blue aura. We haven’t seen anyone else use a devourer, so we can’t tell if the color of the aura is the normal aura of devourers or a result of where the magic sea salt is sourced
Azura Province - It would make sense for the elite soldiers to pass down their arcanium armor. A slight problem could be a curse user wearing that armor for hundreds of years, permanently attuning the arcanium to the element of their curse ( similar to how the sunken sword is constantly emitting water)
Anyways thanks for listening to word soup with a side of fish sticks, see you on Saturday for something more sane
