It was the brink of dawn at windrow, the sun radiated with a golden shine that beautifully reflected off the crystal blue ocean.
As if out of instinct, morden wakes up on this particular day, earlier than normal. It had been a couple weeks since morden had last been awake, his entire body pulsated from exhaustion and strain, almost as if his entire body was doing everything in its power to make him fall asleep again.
Right before he could return to his slumber, he heard grass rustle near him. Frightened and having just woke up, he springed out of his tent and went to check what was going on.
“Well well well, look who’s finally awake” iris loudly proclaimed, looking more irritated than relieved.
“mmrgh… good morning…” morden mumbled, trying his hardest not to collapse to the ground.
“Where’s mc?” Morden asked, wiping any sleep and dust out of his eyes that he can find.
“Hell if I know. They said they went off to obtain their awakening, but at this point I’m starting to think they just left us here.” Iris said in a more doubtful tone.
“Well did they at least say where they were going? With these tensions at Ravenna I worry they might get themselves killed…” Morden said, concerned for the safety of mc
“They did say something about a few islands. But they never told me the name of em” Iris states, further confirming her doubts.
Morden sighs then walks along the valley of windrow, slowly waking himself up with the winds of the oceanside.
“He’ll be fine… He was able to take on the king of ravenna. He should be able to handle a few more weeks on his own.” Morden says, grinning and looking up to the sky.
Some time goes by, and the sun begins to rise further above the atmosphere, shining over the camps morden and iris rested in.
“Hey iris.” Morden says, with a look of pained relief, as if seeing an old friend who had forgotten you a long time ago.
“What is it?” Iris replies, indifferent to mordens question.
“Do you think sailors lodge would still let us into the tavern?” Morden asks cluelessly.
“No idea. I’ve never been to that place.” Iris responded
“You’ve never been to sailors lodge?” Morden asks incredulously.
“No. Why?” Iris replied, sternly looking over to morden.
“Well it’s just… Since Ravenna and sailors lodge were so close I’d assume you would’ve at least stopped by there once before.” Morden explained
“Well I guess that’s fair, but it’s true, I have never stepped foot on that place. I thought it was just a merchant outpost.” Iris says, looking into the distance.
“Yeah it’s a good place for trading, but it’s also for sailors and marines to rest up.” Morden explained.
“Did you wanna go there or something?” Iris asked, seemingly impatient with mordens banter.
“The thoughts been lingering for some time now yes.” Morden answered.
“Well we have weeks before we need to leave the bronze sea. So if you felt like going there before we leave you have some time left.” Iris says before standing back up on her feet, seemingly ready to be on the island completely alone.
“You don’t wanna come with?” Morden asks out of curiosity.
“Did you want me to come with?” Iris replies with a hint of sarcasm.
“Well I’d figured going with a friend would be better than going alone. Besides, if I left by myself how would you be able to get off the island?” Morden explains before cracking a slight chuckle
Iris, although reluctant, agreed and followed morden to the sailboat, where they could recollect themselves.
Sometime passes by, going from morning to noon without either of the two noticing, sailing past Ravenna, and eventually being able to see sailors lodge in the distance.
When they arrived they were welcomed by seas smoother than waters in bowls, worn wood that had been submerged in water for decades, holding up a large tavern riddled with lights, and an unexpected individual.
“Hey! You two must be iris and morden!” A tanned black bearded middle aged man greets them from above.
“Huh?” Morden responds, immediately looking up to see a stranger he’d never met before.
“How the hell does this bastard know our names? Think he’s a Ravenna spy?” Iris asks, charging her magic in preparation for an attack.
“NOW HOLD YOUR HORSES FOR A SECOND! I ain’t no plunderin pirate, and I certainly ain’t no rivanya spy as you say. I’m ruby roger! Leader of the crew mc owns.
“BULL####! MCs been away for two weeks, and I doubt he’s-“
Before iris could finish talking, a large explosion could be heard from the forest of cernunno. As well as a smoke cloud forming in the center of the island.
“MC has been on that island for the past couple o’hours. Takin out them cult members have been fulfilling for his boredom.” Ruby says, admiring the vast strength MC has gotten in just a short amount of time.
“Should we help him?” Morden asks, concerned for the safety of mc.
“It’s fine lad, I saw him take out their leader within seconds. 'Less there be some monster out waiting for him in the water, all fine he’ll be.” Ruby reassures.
“Guess that all makes sense, just one more thing… if mc is at cernunno… why are YOU here?” iris asks, still unable to believe ruby’s word.
“Was waiting for ye to ask that! He left the ship at the dock’n just walked to the island using their magic. Was frankly considering sailing over there myself, but Edward stopped me.”
“So MCs doing fine… that’s good to hear.” Morden said, feeling an exponentially large amount of concern and guilt be released from his body.
“Yeah, now for me to start askin questions, what’re YOU TWO doing over 'ere? MC said the next time they’d see you two we’d all be leaving to the nimbus sea? It be that time already?” Ruby asks, curious to what morden and iris could want in a place like this.
“We actually came here for the tavern. But MC is right about the next time us all meeting to go to the nimbus sea.” Morden replies
“I see. Well, you two should definitely get the new rose cider they’ve been introducing around these seas.” Ruby advertises, completely clueless to what he’s having them drink.
“Huh… is it good?” Morden asks
“Crazy good, had me wonderin if roses actually tasted good for a moment” ruby says before bursting out in laughter.
“Well I’ll keep that in mind, thank you roger.” Morden says before grabbing iris’s wrist and walking up the stairway.
“Any time lad! I’ll let MC know you two were around here while he was gone” ruby says before heading back to the ship to assist edward with even more cargo stealing.
“We should probably switch out these clothes.” Morden says out of realization of how long they’ve been on.
“I don’t have any spares. You should’ve thought of that before we left.” Iris said, blankly disappointed and bored.
“It’s fine, I can get some from here. There’s some tailors we can buy clothes from.” Morden said, clueful of this area after some travelling alone.
15 minutes later, morden finds himself and iris some more fitting clothes that’ll fit them more efficiently, he was able to put it on fine. However…
“No.” Iris says without delay.
“Look I couldn’t find any other red clothes that would fit. Besides it doesn’t look bad.” Morden says in a desperate attempt to make iris put the dress on.
“So you went with one of the MOST REVEALING outfits instead of getting a different colored outifit? You know I would’ve been fine with black right?” Iris says, trying to force out mordens true intentions
“You were…? I probably should’ve asked before getting this outfit then…” Morden says while scratching his head.
“Forget it. I’ll put this stupid thing on. But if you tell anyone about this you are dead. Understand?” Iris warns morden.
“Got it.” Morden says in an intimidated and shaky voice.
30 minutes of dressing goes by, ruby roger stands at the entrance of the tavern, talking with one of his crewmates. And then all of a sudden, a young woman in a simple and small dress sparkling red walks up to them, seemingly red from emberassment
“I-Is morden… coming?” Iris asks, looking away with her arms hidden behind her back.
“Yeah… I’m here” Morden says, appearing seemingly right behind her.
“Great seas! She looks like a diamond.” Ruby says, surprised at the outfit iris was wearing.
“Let’s go iris.” Morden says, holding his hand out as if iris was a close friend.
”thisisnotadatethisisnotadatethisisnotadatethisisnotadate” iris begins saying in her head, about ready to punch herself into unconsciousness from having to be seen in such clothing.
“You ok iris?” Morden asks, slightly concerned from how red iris is turning
“I-Im fine… let’s just order already.” Iris says, wiping her forehead for sweat.
“Alright, two rose ciders please.” Morden asks before finding a seat for him and iris.
Some time passes by and they are eventually served their drinks. Iris seems skeptical at first, but after seeing morden down the bottle in one go, she ended up drinking as well.
“Wow, he was right. This is great!” Morden says, taking a breath and looking outside.
“It is… but it tastes nothing like a rose.” Iris said, disappointed that the “rose” in the cider wasn’t actual rose.
“Iris?” Morden says suddenly.
“Yeah?” Replies iris
“How did you meet mc?” Morden asks, curious in the history between her and mc.
skipping over her wall of text. It’s just her summarizing the whole frostmill and cirrus island questline.
“Wow. You two seem like you became good friends.” Morden says, exhilarated to hear about MCs journey.
“I guess…” iris sighs, seemingly getting tired.
“So, you wanna be here a bit longer?” Morden asks, trying to see if she’s bored.
“Not any longer than we have to be…” Iris said while visibly containing a yawn.
“Yeah, looks like the weather around here’s starting to get crueler anyways. So we shouldn’t be here much longer.” Morden says before sitting upright and looking toward his ship.
“Let’s go iris” morden says, leaving the tavern.
“Right behind you” iris replies, following him out the building, and back to the boat.
“What did you do with our clothes?” Iris says, curiously looking around the boat.
“In here” morden says before prying open one of the containers of the boat.
“We’ll get this back on when we’re back at windrow. After that, whatever we do for the rest of the day is up to you.” Morden says.
“…Alright.” Iris responds, seemingly impatient to get her ordinary clothes back on.
With this. They leave, and head back to windrow, the sun begins to set and as they reach the island, so too does duck reach the sky.
“I’m gonna be honest morden” iris says, looking directly at him.
“Yeah?” Morden replies, wondering what iris was out to say.
“I really enjoyed our time out today. Hopefully we can do this more often.” Iris says, giving morden a hug before stepping off the ship.
“Ah… uhm, thanks iris…” morden stutters, surprised by the unusual approach iris made towards him.
“I’ll be heading to sleep shortly, you’re free to use my sailboat in the meantime.” Morden says, crawling into his tent, ready to go into slumber again.
“A-actually morden… could we…sleep together?” iris asks, her face turning redder than a tomato
“Wasn’t expecting that… but sure I don’t mind.”
Morden says before plopping down on the floor, and being met with iris’s warmth,
as they cuddled and looked at the stars until they both went to sleep…
“Hey MC iris and morden stopped by here! You should’ve seen them!” Ruby exclaims
”…No… I think I shouldn’t have…” the mc I says with nothing but pure pain, dread, and disgust in his eyes.
