Deckhand Bartering System

Deckhand Bartering System
effort 2.5 2 quality 3.0 2 reasonability 2.5 2

An alternate way of getting deckhands besides using renown. Essentially, the player offers a galleon price to the deckhand. If the deckhand finds that WAY too low, the bartering will end. If the deckhand finds it low, it will ask for more. If the deckhand finds it just right , it has a chance to ask for more and pretend that that price wouldn’t do. If the player sticks with that price, the deckhand would come with the player. If the price is high, the deckhand would accept. How the deckhand would value itself would be a combination of how many stats it has and different weights of those stats and a random offset, maximum 1000 galleons. This system isn’t earn to be able to be learned slightly rather than completely random.
Thoughts?

I feel like you should raise the cap of the galleon price so it isn’t too easy to get deckhands. They are already a challenge to get via renown and I feel like it would be too cheap to get a good deckhand for just 1000 galleons. I also feel like It would make getting renown a bit obsolete as you could just pay to get the good deckhands you want.

The plus or minus 1000 galleons would be the maximum random offset, the deckhand’s actual worth would probably vary from 5k to 35k. And it kind of is making renown partially obsolete, but anyway renown for deckhands is a system that’s majorly disliked.

Ah okay that makes much more sense. That feels a lot more balanced. Thank you for clarifying!!

Yeah, no problem.

is it 1000 max total
or 1000 max offset

This is ok but there are definitely better alternatives being suggested for deckhand acquirement.

here!!

The 1000 galleons is offset. Actual worth would be 5k to 35k but all numbers are variable.

drinking luck potions should increase how far it goes down
