it varies greatly depend on your playstyle tbh
if u do a lot of naval combat ( espcially with atlanthean ships ) then canoneer shipbuilder and maybe enchanter and navigator are must have
if u do alot of cargo trading, just want to get to the 1st range as quick as possible ( for fishing or something ) or just dont want to engage in navel combat (why) then navigator is a must have, maybe enchanter too to help to tank mortars and such ( tho tbh i dont think running away is a very viable option unless you greatly outspeed them since, u know, ram exists )
if you play mostly pve/dont care much about naval combat then merchant and navigator are useful but not really a must have, chef is questionable depending on whether you’re gonna use the fish or not
Chef as must have is kind of crazy unless they can make 150m recovery 3 buffets from random rare fish

merchant can drop arcspheres tf is u on about
I dont see much use for them , if you have everything you need, i only see them as a way to obtain an item faster, unless there are merchant exclusive items.
even if merchant can drop arcspheres treasure charts can drop blasted arcspheres which have 6 more power
they CAN, but only if you hit the jackpot with getting an arcsphere from a treasure (already rare) as WELL as on akursius keep.

Coincidentally my least favorite crew member, he’s our merchant.
Is it worth getting rid of him for navigator now?
- Riuz is not worth it anymore.

This is what i think of deckhands, but mainly for dark sea survivability. Enchanter goes in must-have as it heals crewmates for 20%, which is needed since if your deckhand dies, you cant use thier abilities.
we can all agree that ship builder is top tier.
The must have tier are the ones that make my ship more tanky, which of course I am going to be biased towards.
The good choice tier are the other two that I have on my ships
Average is just the other ones, I have enough items that I don’t need them
Surprised people want me to keep my merchant.
I’ll probably get notebooks from him before departing at least.
