Other than that, everything about the site is great. I like the way everything is organized and how it’s all easy to navigate.
The 20 character limit exists mainly to encourage responses with greater effort aside from “I know” and “I agree with this,” so that more intellectual discussion would be the result.
I don’t think it should be changed.

I agree with what Meta said up there.
It’s also to prevent some sort of “spam” such as +1 or (again) effortless responses.
