It looks absolutely amazing and really exciting. The look and movement of the monsters is exactly what I hoped, and a huge improvement from the current monster mechanics. It looks challenging and immersive. Not only that, but it seems the environment will play a larger role as well. As many others have stated, seems like the feel and freezing temperatures of Rogue Lineage’s tundra, will be making their way here.

I’m probably most excited about the monsters and their new attacks. As well as the new ā€œbossā€ looking thing as well. The dead divers hanging from the hooks is creepy as hell, and I love it. Huge fan of the eldritch monsters and creepier theme they’re going with. Makes me wonder what monsters in the lower layers will look like.

However as @TheoreticalExistence stated, I do wish that these elements, and even the quality of gameplay would be in another game, one that lacks a wiping mechanic. I’m alright with gameplay promoting players to engage in PvP to progress, but in a game where you can lose ALL progress, it becomes quite annoying and anxiety-inducing.

unironically most deepwoken players say that the game is WAY too lenient on wiping tbh, and to make it easier to wipe.

They also get super defensive when you call them masochists or sadists.

worst game mechanic ever

I mean you might not have too wait long considering how successful deepwoken is I wouldn’t be surprised if games with similar mechanics come out. Real question is whether or not it’ll be permadeath though

It’s been 4 fucking months just give me that update. Tho it does look good

if deepwoken didn’t have permadeath it’d be 10/10 for me

permadeath drops it down to a 5/10 just because of the sheer toxicity it generates

Good point. We’ve seen the same thing happen with Rogue Lineage, where inspired games like The Vast Realm and Hollow Abyss were made, however both carried over the perma-death mechanic, alongside the open world exploration and class-based progression.

Hopefully somebody will come along with the same vision that several of us share. Otherwise we can only wait for the currently in-dev roblox RPG games to release in 2030 to have a taste of that experience.

Deepwoken will always be toxic, perma death or not sadly
I can’t explain it but something about the game design, how you have to pay for it, and how no children can have an influence on it will keep it something only 13-19 yr olds will play which ofc generates a bunch of toxicity
but yes deepwoken would be infinitely more fun without perma-death

Nyeeheheheh I don’t play midwoken lol

deepwoken might be toxic as fuck, but it can be the contrary.

You would actually make a LOT of better friends, and definitely closer than any other game on the platform. Deepwoken actually bonds people quite well.

I hope disease is in layer 2 so people can suffer and fortitude can actually be useful

I wonder if all the depths layers are done will it be like undertale where one too many slip-ups can leave you needing to go on a long journey to escape

a dev said falling in the void in layer 1 will take you to layer 2 but on low hp

from what we’ve seen from leaks and teasers, its a long ass journey to get there properly with the divers and stuff

The thing here that really puzzles me is why is content like THIS getting added to the depths in the first place.

Its the depths, the entire point is that you fuck up and you’re gone, that’s it, goodbye, there’s a few useful things you can venture down there for, but regardless of why you’re there, its going to be a pain to get out (for most people).

Notice how nearly, if not literally, everything you can do in the current depths is something you can meet the requirements for before you enter, get to a location, do a bit of dialogue, and leave.
That’s the only reason people interact with it, you get in quickly, and you get out quicker.

I don’t know why the developers think making this place some kind of massive area with things to explore and do around it like in the regular map is a good idea.
Somehow this concept feels more poorly thought out than everything else in the game no matter how good it looks.

one of the largest selling points of the game is traversing because of lore shit or smth but yeah ok :grinning:

Them also say this :fr:
