Deepwoken has nice combat, although some enemies feel impossible with 400-500 ping (Dagger bandits). The whole customisation feels great and especially impactful with heavy weapon strength build or frost draw mage builds.
Grinding is fast enough for permadeath to not be too much of an issue from a casual gameplay perspective as I am admittedly terrible at the game (Can’t get past power 45).
The truly greatest thing though is playing with friends and messing around together through various shenanigans.

it’s not ok when I have to roll a die every 10 min and if I roll a 6 I wipe (gankers)
I absolutely have played deepwoken before, gave up on the shit after about a week of the game punishing me for not knowing literally everything in it.
It was fun enough for the $5 but it doesn’t go anywhere past that.
AFR is far more fun despite being free lol.

damn, have you not seen any of those gifs?
and that’s not to mention how ridiculously easy it is to get environmental kills.
Those gifs take place with very specific situations, they aren’t things that just happen whilst you are fighting someone. I have been ganked by power 60’s as a freshie several times and they don’t really one shot you unless they really build towards it, even then its not that common.
I mean honestly, even if they didn’t oneshot you, was there really anything you could do to fight back?
You can fend youself, but for me I can’t. I am not the best at the game but I do know it isn’t impossible. Anyways most of the time that is just about 30 minutes of progression lost. Every combat situation is an opportunity to learn and I am not really mad about it.

you cant just say “permadeath” like its some kind of trump card. I personally don’t like it because it adds artificial difficulty rather than natural difficulty but there are a lot of people that do like it. Why do you think rogue lineage succeeded it relied on permadeath to create stress and the thrill of relieving that stress because you overcame conflict is what makes deepwoken’s permadeath enjoyed by most people.
The NPC thing doesn’t even make any sense. Deepwoken is a game that’s highly focused on pvp with very little emphasis on story. The devs added a minimum amount of lore and called it a day cus that’s not what the game is about. This is like people complaining about AO’s pvp despite everyone knowing the game is centered around its story.
The race thing makes it clear you have never played the game before because deepwoken has the exact opposite of what you are criticizing it of. The races in deepwoken were made to have bare minimum benefits to prevent races from locking you into playstyles while still making them unique. Theres only one race that indirectly benefits pvp and its only useful at extremely low levels.
Infinite parry trades are basically a myth that have been drastically inflated by the community. They only occur at very high levels of skill and most players don’t even encounter them.

I had about a 20 parry trade pretty early on.
Albeit, that was before anybody knew that feinting was a thing.
Was still a horrible first impression to pvp, as was my first impression of most of the game, actually.
I’m talking from my experience of the game, when I played it, deepwoken had failed in literally every aspect of what it strived to be, and every time I look back on it, its somehow managed to get worse.
anyways this argument is going to go the exact same direction as literally every other time its been said here so if you want the rest of how this conversation will go, just look at a different time its happened, I know you’re not going to change your mind, and I know I’m definitely not going to change my mind.
I just tried to recommend somebody a game that I feel is better than deepwoken, we don’t need to make this a 100 message topic over it.
