why are people acting like armour piercing is going to deal more damage than defence
It could be interesting if Defense functioned more like a traditional armor stat/bar in that it carried a higher resistance to damage than your actual HP does (10% DR?). Unlike your actual HP, however, it wouldn’t regenerate, or at least regenerate as fast (maybe conditional regeneration such as dealing damage regens it a bit?).
Then armor piecing could just split the damage between defense and your actual HP. Maybe at max it could be a 50/50 bypass. Drawback would just bypass the defense itself and attack your actual HP, but then this wouldn’t really matter much anyways since the way defense works post update or is planned to work is that Drawback won’t be based on HP + vit HP + defense but just your base HP + vit HP anyways.
Aight, I’m kinda done cooking right now. Tell me if I incinerated the kitchen or something. At least the idea in concept would separate people from associating defense with your true HP though. Just realized though, the separation also would clarify and ensure that armor piercing only works best against users of defense until the their “armor” is gone. Not sure if armor piercing is going to be a flat damage increase throughout, but it shouldn’t affect your true HP (only blocking and the proposed armor stat/bar from defense)
Actually I’m gonna cook this up for suggestions just in case.
defense just got hit by a huge nerf by having its regen removed and now armour piercing gets added

Regen got a stat of its own so it makes sense to have one countering it

except it’s not countering regen at all

Rather than a nerf, it’s balanced ngl. High regen should only be locked behind vitality-based builds and it solves blocking strategy to completely tank damage when regeneration stat can be obtained by people in the Nimbus Sea update
Testers probably suggested the change when they found out they could do just that
any way you look at it, it’s a nerf and a really big one as well
the 22% increase helps but fights rarely last shorter than a minute, especially outside of munera
there isn’t / wasn’t a heavy defense / blocking meta

I mean it isnt in our version but what about the tester universe? Vetex wouldnt just blatantly add armor piercing for no reason at least, he may have a spaghetti code but he’s sensible
