Defense is dead

this stat is overpowered, cant punish high resistance high attack speed users :sob:

Defense (or glass cannons) will need to be addressed regardless but the duration of fights is definitely upscaled by other problems like reflexes and Agility which should be addressed on their own.

Does your armor start regenerating IRL when you take damage?

no, but i think armor is more like absorption points (flashback: cant regen past a certain point)

I mean say you have two layers, you flesh/skin and the armor you’re wearing.

You get hit with a mace, the armor absorbs some of your damage, your body absorbs some of the damage.

Your body starts to regenerate but the armor does not regenerate. Your body is regenerating at the same rate that it would without the armor.

For gameplay purposes however the armor still has to “regen” to some extent otherwise you would lose HP and never be able to get it back without repairing or smth.

i thought of it as the armour absorbs some % of the kinetic / magic energy directed towards you, sorta like percentage damage reduction
so yeah in that case having more regen the more defense you have would make sense

In that case yeah but I like to think of it as more of a physical property since it’s literally the only armor stat that actually makes sense in the physical world (even if it works differently).

having armour not regen until out of combat sounds interesting
