They were too busy worrying about the graphics and how beautiful the game was
This post needs more attention.

Demonwalk
Why are so many anime games like this?
demonfall is literally just wom running simulator all over again with an added bonus of rolling
Why a good mix of land and sea can really help with any travel problems in games.
most anime game devs are amateur game devs, makes sense that problems like these would pop up frequently
anime games are just factually shit
i have already pointed this out before
they all just overhype and die in 2 months
I think sea-based transportation can also get fucked up heavily and make a game become a boat simulator really quickly if handled badly, so even then you still need to know what you’re doing.
I’d personally say transportation in Rogue Lineage is handled in one of the best ways in any Roblox games I’ve ever seen for several reasons, some of which I’ll list here:
-
Options of transportation are intrinsically tied to the progression in the game with stuff like mana run and mana climb which have to be maxed out entirely. You can move more easily the more you play, though it never actually becomes so easy that it’s a cakewalk.
-
Exploration is encouraged because trinkets are littered all over the map, and so are the items and skills you’ll need for your specific progression. You have to move around to get stuff done.
-
There’s actual risk involved in moving around, so you can’t just turn off your brain. The threat of taking fall damage and sustaining injuries, as well as the threat of getting gripped makes sure you are actively thinking while doing your stuff.
-
Temperature. Just a cool mechanic all-in-all.
-
The map actually looks cool. That helps a lot.
I wouldn’t say you need all or any of these factors to make a game’s traveling engaging, but it definitely works in Rogue. It’s the same way that juicy tender chicken wings and a really good chocolate cake taste nothing alike and both be enjoyable.
Another option could be to just reduce the amount of transportation done.
Of course, any transportation method handled badly would be terrible. Imo, if you are going for a big map you’ll need to give the player a good incentive to explore as well as a risk to said exploring, not just random enemies but something that can legitimately kill you should you not pay attention.
money money money money money money money money money money
I’d like to add that the first 5 minutes of the game were legit really good. I’m hoping AO will be like that except longer.
Unoriginality is usually the sign of moneymaking being the primary goal.
And since this game has spins for shit… Oh yeah, that was fucking obvious.
Sidenote why spin for powers? Never understood why.
Lichda I just fuckin’ said it. It’s not hard to put these two together;
money.
