That’d be an amazing thing, especially if it has detailed architecture like underwater escape sections etc and you have to gather different weapons to escape thru guards but tbh I can just see fame players waiting to gank anyone who tries to escape

my biggest problem with solo escape ideas was always how unbearably tedious having to do ANOTHER stealth section every time you died would be.

you just gave me another reason to hate that idea!!!

After escaping give them a 10min cooldown until they can be caught again

I was thinking it’s more of a one time thing and then after that it’ll always be easy to escape, like Fort Talos after Argos

Idk i kinda like the jailtime mechanic, its more of a consequence of your actions thing though i agree it gets boring having to sit around for 10 minutes not being able to do anything.

Maybe if prisons got reworked as a whole, you arent stuck to 1 jail cell and theres something to do/escape with then it’d be cool.
Like, if you’re choosing to play a criminal then it adds a bit more risk and more atmosphere to it

they should also let me cook, jewelcraft, brew
just replace the hand cuffs with the leg cuffs used in that one mine story section
and mabey make the prison a kind of “open area” so there would be criminal NPC shops

also i just noticed something
it seemed like there were much more criminal players in WOM compared to AO

Random crackpot idea: Funny gladiator fight: fight for your freedom!

There’s a simple reason for that
1: Rep shield prevented you from getting half of the game’s boss drops
2: 99% of WoM’s content was negative rep (boss farming lol)

Don’t forget Criminal Records!
You can turn a good slot into an evil slot in about 10 minutes, but turning an evil slot into a good slot involved spending dozens of hours getting yourself arrested for 30 seconds, leaving the server before the news is published, slowly grinding up to Hero rep at 10% speed, and then staying at hero rep for 30 hours to clear the records.

WoM had some truely baffling design choices.

i dont play negative rep builds but ive still always felt that this detracts from pvp

one good argument i can imagine is that it keeps people out of the fight longer (giving them a chance to switch servers, cool off, not zombie the fight, etc.) once they’re dead, which i think is fair.

a good compromise would be to lower the time significantly like mentioned in your third point (still keeps the original purpose & impact, and gives players that chance to cool off) but to also make sure jailed players will NOT respawn close to whoever caught them originally after being executed. not sure how a global jailing cooldown would work.

i swear to god if i see another suggestion starting with “desperately needed” im fucking done

I feel like a change to the 10 minute timeout box that serves no purpose but to waste the player’s time for an obnoxious duration is pretty desperately needed and has been desperately needed since release.

If your getting executed you only wait 2 minutes

yall still get jailed for 10 minutes? it was reduced a while ago

I haven’t played a criminal in ages and haven’t heard a thing about it ever changing.
Regardless most people seem to want #4, and #3, knowing that now, adds a massive cooldown to it so it interrupts gameplay much much less.

I love AFK can’t play the game room!!!

So what prompted for you to make this suggestion when you havent played a villain file in ages? friend got arrested and saw the 10 minutes announcement or sum?

No I just still think that the entire player jailtime mechanic is awful if I’m the one
experiencing it or not.
I’ve spent nearly 17 hours in the timeout box since WoM and I don’t think anybody else should.

I want to cripple this absolutely pointless mechanic that exists for no reason but to waste the player’s time as much as I possibly can regardless of which reputation path I choose.

Well respectfully we aren’t in WOM times anymore, and I’m 100% sure execution and jail time got reduced a decent amount, iirc max 2 minutes to get executed

The only problem im seeing with the jail system is the fact that villain files are still spawncamping jailed players atm though
