it might just be my lap getting old but everytime i destroy a building my framerate drops significantly and the sound from the destruction gets really loud and ear-rap*y
is this normal?

Sounds like your laptop isn’t up to the task anymore, and you’re probably listening to everything on too high a volume.
Some building parts do. One of the worst offenders for me is the chandeliers in Calvus’ boss room.
its usually houses for me, boss room never had that problem
